Just been reported that Kevin Campbell has died at the age of 54 from an illness very sad news orient ha elost a great legend and he played a part in getting promoted in 1989

Very sad news. He was the catalyst for our promotion. I remember him scoring against us in our 4-1 cup defeat at Everton playing alongside Gazza. A great day out which the result didn't seem to spoil

Rare to see quite such a warm obituary, he seemed to be universally liked and respected (apart from one particular guy in Turkey).

Very sad news. Good player and a great guy.

The Under the Cosh interview with him showed what an interesting and positive person he was.

Such sad news, great player , great person.

Remember going to his first game away to crewe. We lost, but he was so good. We were sitting near home fans, and they cwere saying to us tgey couldn't believe how good and powerful he was. Him and Alan Comfort together was magic. RIP super Kev , thanks for our promotion in 1989.
