Some of John's finest body language and facial expressions during his grilling of Tori and Jack last night, properly awkward to watch telly.

Last evening I watched the first episode of Fallout, and I rather enjoyed it.

I never played the game but, while it's no Last of Us, it's interesting and I think shot pretty well. Any of you youngs play it and care to share how close it is to the game ?

Yeah he hates them doesn’t he?

I just can’t work them/her out and if it’s a big show they are both in on, if she’s just dense, or he’s a master manipulator

Absolutely fantastic satire of the woke grift industry, told from a black perspective. It is also a deeply human story that balances comedy with family tragedy. Recommended.
Appreciated - thanks

Yeah, first time I've seen them all be so open about the fact they think one of the participants is a real c*nt. Pretty funny.

He seems too thick to be a master of manipulation but she comes across as just being so defensive about stuff she's going to gloss over things that prove anyone else right. Seen some post-show spoilers and all a bit odd.

I was obsessed with Fallout 3 and New Vegas when I had time to play video games. I'd say the show leans more heavily on its gaming source material than Last of Us, it's captured the aesthetic, humour, weirdness and bleakness of the games perfectly. But it's also an original story, not an adaptation, so they have more license to do their own thing with it. Think they knocked it out the park to be honest.

Watched a couple more eps last night and love it. Really great look etc. Do any of the scenes follow gameplay sections at all? - like in Last of Us Ep 1 the car scene was - I was told on here - like a direct copy of a section in the game that all players would recognise.

Fall Out is a different type of game - Last of Us is linear and very story driven, while Fallout is more of an “open world” game, where the focus is on freedom and exploration, and while there is a story, the story is secondary to the setting, in terms of adaptations (that said I haven’t seen the adaptation yet)

I’d expect it to be faithful to the context of the game, but not to retell its story

Also enjoying Fallout so far.

3 Body Problem is good so far too.

And finally caught up with Poor Things. Love it. It's made by the same bloke who made The Lobster, so if you've seen that you'll have a sense of the style. If you're partial to watching a totally f*cked up film, then look no further. Won't be to everyone's tastes though.

Being killed by a raider
Wandering around
Dying

This is at times a bit too po faced and isn't as pithy as the Francis one, but Carr gets the treatment here too; https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radi ... -own-jokes

I’m not a fan of Jimmy Carr at all, but it does seem that comedy reviewers are far worse than music journalists (or maybe twenty years behind music journalists) for not realising that the big names have found an audience, and aren’t really aiming their material at the 5,000 or so people who are into the more inventive comedy.

Also funny that the review mentions Stewart Lee, as if his material isn’t pitched exactly where his audience expects it to be

May Day march in London. Up the workers . Great pissing off black cab drivers without fares in the back with the streets being closed . The ones with fares in the back with the meter rolling were bibbing up supporting us , classic !

Today I watched Stasi FC, an interesting ‘sky original’ documentary, mainly in German with subtitles, about the corrupt rise and dominance of FC Berlin Dynamo in the 70’s / 80’s. Neatly weaving player testimony, a historian’s views and contemporary footage. Levels of dodgy refereeing the PGMOL can only dream of getting away with. It focuses on the fact their president was also head of the Stasi. There’s even a murder conspiracy.

Baby Reindeer - Both the barman/comedian bloke and the stalker were f*cked up. A decent watch, mainly for the brilliant performance of the actress who plays the mad stalker woman.
