I've not bothered to keep abreast of things, but notice some people think it's a bad thing. However, those people are sometimes framed as the baddies. I realise that I do my own research but why bother when I have access to the wealth of informed opinion that is the message board.

Implicit in hate crime laws is the idea that bigotry, violence and repression comes from the mass of the population, rather than the state - and indeed that the state is the best arbiter and enforcer of justice.

Other than that my understanding is that the Scotch laws are very similar to already existing legislation in England & Welsh Wales.

It's your lucky day Ginge. I stumbled across this very level headed chap from some poncey uni very clearly explaining what it all means and get this he actually knows what he's ranting on about!!

CEB can put down his pitchfork for now and not join in with the Rowlinista Brigade because a separate bill further protecting Wimminz rights is coming later this year. Who knew eh? That everyone's rights could be protected under the law simultaneously. It won't catch on.
