Re: Question (part2) Mr Wellens
I’d say it’s the opposite. In fact when the board gave up at the transfer deadline he was the one still pushing our ambitions.
His stock is probably the highest it’s been in his career. I’m sure there will be offers but it’s his gamble. Wait another year and if he got us too 6 and/or promoted he’ll get championship sides falling over themselves for him. Struggle, which is a possibility, and end up mid-table/relegation and he’s not getting a move anywhere.
I do think he likes it here but he’s clearly highly ambitious beyond what Orient can offer in the short term

Re: Question (part2) Mr Wellens
If you eliminated these types of errors it would be called something close to perfection. This is an imperfect sport. Everyone makes mistake appointments (although Piggott gets stranger as the season goes on). Also, the cost of the kids is pennies. You'd be amazed how little we get these sorts for. If only Lyle Taylor had joined eh?Hoover Attack wrote: ↑Tue Mar 05, 2024 2:25 pm Hadn't even considered those.
And not talking about the injuries either.
All of Piggot,Thompson, Drinnan and Moncur for two thirds of the season have been paid without contributing. Plus the two kids we've panic signed who aren't up to the level we need.

If we can sign Idris the midfield will be sorted, two Centre backs and a full back for the defence. Then all we need to find is a proper goal scorer and a keeper

Paying unemployed racists to serve out their suspension (for being racist) and then sitting on the bench for the handful of games when their suspension (for being racist) is over is an unforgivable waste. As is making up a job for a mate of the director of football.

Re: Question (part2) Mr Wellens
Nice to read some sensible comments but haven’t read them all as I was driving back. Think his stock is high at the moment. Would he uproot his family for a place down south knowing how long most managers stay at the same club these days. Does he trust the board completely? His outburst just after the window was he indirectly putting out his CV?and has he realised the clubs limitations? Would the lure of a bigger northern club persuade him to go?

I actually don't get the first part. One out of character (Ritchie's words not mine) comment makes a man a racist? I prefer to take the chairman of the PFA's view - a man of colour and also our captain - who was willing to accept a man can make a mistake and not be the thing that defines him.

Two strikers I reckon as Pigott looks a busted flush we'll need to try and move on somehowStory of O wrote: ↑Tue Mar 05, 2024 4:30 pm If we can sign Idris the midfield will be sorted, two Centre backs and a full back for the defence. Then all we need to find is a proper goal scorer and a keeper
It could just be coincidence but there's been a few external features on him of late from the EFL and somewhere else I can't recall. Certainly if any chairmen weren't aware of his abilities they sure are now.Monkey Boy wrote: ↑Tue Mar 05, 2024 6:34 pm Nice to read some sensible comments but haven’t read them all as I was driving back. Gut feeling is there will be two factors that decide if he leads us out come August
1) does he get the signings he wants in the building and sorted early i.e. the transfer process gets changed to meet the requirements he complained about in January
2) does an offer come in from a "big" club which my guess would be either one of the big hitters in this league failing to get promoted by, say a playoffs defeat or a relegated side coming down from the Championship needing a rebuild but still with significant budget to do so.
I hope the transfer committee deliver some kick-ass signings to match RW's promotion ambitions for next season. There's going to be some important spots to fill GK, CM, ST (multiple) so they need to be quality. If they get the big ones right we could seriously challenge. Any repeat of January missing out on key targets however and I wouldn't blame Richie one bit by being tempted by offers elsewhere as he's clearly hungry for success.

Being a racist, and getting sacked for it, does indeed make somebody a racist. Agreed, overall the recruitment success rate has improved since Richie joined.LittleMate wrote: ↑Tue Mar 05, 2024 4:04 pmIf you eliminated these types of errors it would be called something close to perfection. Not criticising, just saying that the budget level is sufficient for someone of his ability.

Re: Question (part2) Mr Wellens
Can’t see the ethos of the club being changed. Be very surprised if they got there signings done early. As for kick-ass signings can’t see that either inless they sign El Miz? Think a decent goalkeeper is a priority imo. If they sign loan players they need to get in early instead of signing young kids that nobody wants. If available and fit would sign Dominic Ballard on loan from Southampton. Most of all if promises have been made to Richie then honour them if he’s still here?gshaw wrote: ↑Tue Mar 05, 2024 10:00 pmTwo strikers I reckon as Pigott looks a busted flush we'll need to try and move on somehowStory of O wrote: ↑Tue Mar 05, 2024 4:30 pm If we can sign Idris the midfield will be sorted, two Centre backs and a full back for the defence. I don’t think it’s that controversial to suggest that a bloke who has been overtly racist in the recent past is indeed a racist.Chief crazy horse wrote: ↑Wed Mar 06, 2024 10:01 amIt doesn't clear it up at all. Some crocodile tears PR exercise about how he was a very naughty boy and learnt his lesson doesn’t wash with me. I’d rather we didn’t have known racists associated with our club.
I find it absurd that just because he’s a player he can come out with the “sorry guv, I won’t do it again” and that’s it. If a fan had done what he did then the punishment would have been (rightly) much more long term.
Re: Question (part2) Mr Wellens
How would or could Richie Wellens know that it was out of character? He’s only known him in his capacity as the manager of the club that are potentially giving him a chance.
There is literally no good reason to think that you get a more true reflection of character when looking at someone trying to come back from disgrace, than when looking at how someone behaves when pissed up and unguarded
