“PC gone mad!!” was all speculative - “what next?” or exaggeration/misrepresentation- “loony council bans Christmas”

The difference with egregious examples of “wokeness” is that there is substance to the reporting.

In fact, I suppose that amongst right wing media you could perhaps get a good distinction between bullshit stories, where they describe non stories as “PC gone mad” and real stories about real things, for which they’ve adopted “woke” pretty much because they’ve needed to invent a term for when the sort of stuff they’ve lied about before actually happens

The idea is that the adoption of the term - whatever it’s etymology - signals “inclusion” so, for example, a “woman only event” might look “terfy” while a “womxn only event” would signal that they’re using a definition of “women” (or “womxn”) that includes males who say they’re women (and females who say they aren’t)

In the extent I saw this usage while studying illustration between 2017-2020, it was very much being pushed by the “trans community”, and the consensus amongst the evil terfy female contingent was that “womxn” seemed to be used when there was a likelihood of actual female people being the most obvious intended target of the messaging (eg womxn only gym sessions, or a support group for Muslim womxn) while the only time you saw “women” used by LGBTQ societies was when referring to males.

I thought it was a group of people from Wizard of Oz. I’m sure that in the books, the Hottentots are like the southern equivalent of the munchkins or something. Though that could also have a racist origin I suppose
