This topic is about meal deals, not what you like for lunch.Loin Cloth Lenny wrote: ↑Tue Nov 07, 2023 10:38 amYes but I tend to be a bit fussy about food preparation and I’m happier having something I have made myself. I don’t really eat much meat. Prefer fish. Takes very little time. I don’t like mayo or ketchup much either. Quite a plain foodie. I have stuff in my car like wooden spoons and stuff so I can eat out of a tin. I find it better than stuff been made and frozen down then defrosted like this ‘garage sarnies’.Long slender neck wrote: ↑Tue Nov 07, 2023 10:31 amLoin Cloth Lenny wrote: ↑Mon Nov 06, 2023 9:45 pm
Loaf bread Waitrose Wholemeal 75p
6 eggs Waitrose £1.30
Tomato 10p
2 egg sandwich works out to be about 50-60p
I like Sardine or Mackerel sandwiches
You can get a tin of either for less than a £1
Bit fresh onion and you have a nice healthy freshly made sarnie for next to nothing. Pack crisps out of multi bag a bit of fruit you have a lunch for £1.50
You've spent £2.15. Plus my sandwich included sausage, bacon, ketchup and mayo.
Plus we'd have to consider the costs of the time and energy making it.

Re: Meal Deal
Many supermarkets are a bit ambiguous about what's included in the deal and what's not. I've been stung a few times by taking a drink which was apparently not included in the deal ( although sitting beside all the other drinks that are included) I think they are a trap for the unwary.

Re: Meal Deal
Why, very unhygienic to eat with unwashed hands, I do not like the chemical hand wash stuff so I use utensils.

Re: Meal Deal
OK, I'm curious. What sort of tinned foods do you eat in your car with your wooden spoons? Oh, and why wooden spoons and not ordinary metal spoons?Loin Cloth Lenny wrote: ↑Tue Nov 07, 2023 12:56 pmWhy, very unhygienic to eat with unwashed hands, I do not like the chemical hand wash stuff so I use utensils.

Re: Meal Deal
Sardines, mackerel, pilchards, slid, sprats, cod roe, any tinned fish. I use wooden spoons as they are free and disposable, no washing up required.Celtient wrote: ↑Tue Nov 07, 2023 7:20 pmOK, I'm curious. Re: Meal Deal
The Waitrose Meal Deal has quite a good range of offerings. You can get a Peroni 0% as a drink option.
However today I've gone with
Steak sandwich
katsu bites
choc milk

Re: Meal Deal
The breakfast sandwich is a safe choice, I would pair it with some salted crisps though

Re: Meal Deal
Quantity over quality with that selection.
I generally go with the highest value items, regardless of how much I like them, just to make the biggest saving. Sadly this usually means picking up one of those super healthy smoothie drinks.
