McMahon OUT!

Post by BengeO »

Never rated him as a player - and our season seems to have got worse since he has been here.
Be interested to know what the players think of his supposed Set Piece Coaching.

The one thing for sure is he hasn’t improved our set pieces. I’d rather we had put that money towards bringing in a new striker.

Bit unfair to pin the decline on him, it’s more to do with the injuries but yes, it’s obviously not Richie’s decision and he isn’t onboard with it, could tell that from the first interview he gave on the subject.

He appears to be rubbish but is not exactly a major part of the team, just an unnecessary appendage.

Should this post be re-titled "Whoever appointed McMahon OUT!"
Whoever they are - do we assume that they think that Richie was lacking in this area of coaching?

Maybe they meant to get a hair piece coach.

Could be that the players resent his appointment & are deliberately mucking up set-pieces. Thought that last nights performances on set pieces were spectacularly bad.

Quite, but to be fair he does seem to be lacking in the area of goalscoring coaching at the moment.

Could be players really like him & want him as manager & have a Cunning plan to escape RW & PT.

What we need is a thrown in specialist!! Honestly football does create some of the most pointless jobs.

Ok lads when you pick up the ball try and throw it as far as you can into the opposition box. If you can’t throw it far let someone else take it that can. Job done.

It might seem that people are obsessing over McMahon but I think it’s right that attention is being put on this very strange appointment.

Quite frankly it’s insulting to fans to have an owner moaning about how they spend their money on a match day to then go ahead and sign off on spending a salary on a bloke who was not required, isn’t adding anything and appears to be completely unaccountable.

It’s also insulting how fans seems to have been lied to about his purpose for being here. We were told his role covers two functions: set pieces & looking after players who don’t travel to away fixtures. And yet he is always at away fixtures himself.

Obviously I don’t know this for sure but I am fairly certain that this was not an appointment that Wellens requested, or indeed needs. So it also undermines the manager.

All in all an awful decision that I’m sure the club would rather we all just ignore but questions are quite rightly being asked.

If the guy is still here in Jan and we’re hearing noises from the club about how there isn’t enough budget to bring in much needed players then you could argue that him being here is a serious detriment. Whilst his salary won’t be enough on its own to bring in a decent striker or winger, it could prevent us from offering the extra £500 a week or whatever it takes to convince one to join us.

You say that his other function is Looking after players who are not travelling to away matches.
Does any one know what "Looking after" actually entails? I thought we were running a football club, not a Care Home.
Has anyone seen him at away matches?

Not McMahon's fault that almost all of our players don't have the quality to cross a dead ball in is it? We never beat the first man (Jordan Graham aside)..

Continuity planning for when Richie goes, that's why he's here.

My interpretation is that it involves training sessions for those who are not at away games.

I’ve personally seen him at the following away fixtures:

Fleetwood
Carlisle
Burton

And someone else on this thread has just said they saw him at Bristol R earlier this week.

For so called supporters of Orient, some people seem to spend a lot of time slagging off the club owners, management and or players.

I often wonder how they are supporting the club with the constant negativity about some asp

FYI I wasn’t slagging the club off, just stating for a fact what happens at football clubs in general.
