Meal Deal

Post by Long slender neck »

What is the best 'Meal Deal'?

Trick question as they're all rubbish of course. However, there are some decent or unusual items to be had.

Today, from Sainsburys I opted for a

'All Day Breakfast' sandwich. Edible 6/10
Nomadic yoghurt- tip the yoghurt into the clusters with choc chips. Not a great flavour to the yoghurt but the clusters rescue it. 6/10
MOJU Ginger Fiery super root boost (in a tiny bottle), I took a gamble as I dont really care about the drink. It burns and this gave me instant hiccups. 5/10

£3.50, a saving of £2.95 if you're mental enough to pay full whack for any of these items individually.

I had brought my own crisps

I watch a lot of YouTube stuff. . Yanks going on about the UK ( of which they are mostly very ignorant ). They go absolutely potty about Meal Deals .Americans are very sceptical of pre-packaged sandwiches. When they come over here, they go mad over supermarket meal deals.

Make a breakfast sandwich and a yoghurt?

Sounds time consuming and expensive.

Americans think our meal deals are wonderful. They get very excited over M&S but weren't very impressed with Waitrose.

Find Tesco has a good selection. You can get an array of sandwiches or posh wraps and salads which is the next tier up in price. Think it’s gone up 50p in the last 6 months though

Hardly expensive . A breakfast sandwich? Cost a pound or less.

I prefer to make my own as I know what goes in there. Some of those sarnies are previously frozen made days before they go on the shelf with previously frozen ingredients, all processed rubbish.

Eh? A loaf would cost over a quid on its own.

Loaf bread Waitrose Wholemeal 75p
6 eggs Waitrose £1.30
Tomato 10p

2 egg sandwich works out to be about 50-60p

I like Sardine or Mackerel sandwiches
You can get a tin of either for less than a £1
Bit fresh onion and you have a nice healthy freshly made sarnie for next to nothing. Pack crisps out of multi bag a bit of fruit you have a lunch for £1.50

It is not a ‘meal deal’. It is a preferred lunch. I often have it at half time. Far more healthier than the stodge the churn out in West Stand.

You've spent £2.15. Plus my sandwich included sausage, bacon, ketchup and mayo.
Plus we'd have to consider the costs of the time and energy making it.

Yes but I tend to be a bit fussy about food preparation and I’m happier having something I have made myself. I don’t really eat much meat. Prefer fish. Takes very little time. I don’t like mayo or ketchup much either. Quite a plain foodie. I have stuff in my car like wooden spoons and stuff so I can eat out of a tin. I find it better than stuff been made and frozen down then defrosted like this ‘garage sarnies’.
