Re: Lame to Fame 2023
At Lords Cricket Ground I once found myself standing in the gents urinating next to Desmond Lynam
Felix Dexter used me as the butt of his jokes in his after dinner speech at a black tie event my company was the major sponsor of. I've got to say, though I've never had the piss taken out of me like that, he was hilarious and signed the menu for me afterwards. I was sorry when he died at a relatively young age.

Re: Lame to Fame 2023
I do semi-regular Circuit trainings sessions with former Southend, WBA, Forest and Swindon striker Simon Cox, at his very own f45 gym franchise in Southend on Sea.
He strikes me as a very nice chap I must say.

Re: Lame to Fame 2023
20 years ago my company fitted new fascias, soffits and guttering for Chris Bart-Williams mum! Also did new windows a year or two back for a bake off winner / runner up who tried to get a discount for advertising the fact we'd fitted his windows. I declined that offer....

I used the guy from the Go Compare! advert’s season ticket when he didn’t fancy going to spurs at the arse end of last season because a mate of mine directed one of the ads he was in

Top Trump..I have just passed Sir Geoff Hurst..white tee shirt and blue trackers. He is so sprightly; bolt upright. I have lived at the current address for just two years; first time I have seen him. Feel ten years younger myself.

I'm not saying I don't believe you, but were there any other witnesses to get this lame to fame over the line, confirmation from a Russian linesman or Roger Hunt should suffice.Give it to Jabo wrote: ↑Tue Sep 05, 2023 9:42 am Top Trump..I have just passed Sir Geoff Hurst..white tee shirt and blue trackers. Re: Lame to Fame 2023
My late brother was at a neighbour's party. He liked Rugby & knew little of Football. He was talking to this posh guy and my brother asked him what he did for a living. The guy said " I am John Barnes"; so my brother replied " but what do you do for a living? " " I am John Barnes" was again the reply. This went on for some time, until my brother decided the guy was a nutter, so he moved on. Fortunately someone later enlightened him.

Had a fare from the train station in the name of Emily. Penny dropped when the MP for Islington North was walking in my direction. Great conversation.Max B Gold wrote: ↑Mon Sep 04, 2023 4:45 pm Recently whilst sitting at the train station waiting on my fare, Derek McInnes approached me and I said "It's no your taxi wee man".
He said, "How do you know its not for me I haven't even given you the name yet". Some people.

I think I have mentioned it elsewhere on here but I was lucky enough to pick up Duggy Alexander two days in a row and was happy to berate him at length both times.Orient Punxx wrote: ↑Tue Sep 05, 2023 10:46 amHad a fare from the train station in the name of Emily. Saw him at the station at the weekend and as I drove in the look of horror on his face would have pleased Bram Stoker. Luckily for him he wasn't my fare.
Also picked up a senior civil servant who works in the cabinet office and who had nothing but bad things to say about the Richie Sunak and his fellow theives.

Re: Lame to Fame 2023
In other news a friend of a friend was at the swearing in session in Parliament yesterday siting next to the family of the new MP for Uxbridge who were reported to be "bad news."
They were described as the kind of people who are 6 pints in at the airport Weatherspoons and you pray they don't get on your flight, but they do.

Picked up a lot of politicians/peers in my time. More notable Gove & Rowan Williams. Regardless of their politics, all have been most engaging and personable.Max B Gold wrote: ↑Tue Sep 05, 2023 12:33 pmI think I have mentioned it elsewhere on here but I was lucky enough to pick up Duggy Alexander two days in a row and was happy to berate him at length both times.Orient Punxx wrote: ↑Tue Sep 05, 2023 10:46 amHad a fare from the train station in the name of Emily. Re: Lame to Fame 2023
They are trained to do that as they know they are widely despised so that taxi drivers can go on social media and say they met them and they were nice. Well it ain't happening any time soon on my shift guvenor.Orient Punxx wrote: ↑Tue Sep 05, 2023 1:09 pmPicked up a lot of politicians/peers in my time. More notable Gove & Rowan Williams. Can’t disagree there, although I’ll cover my bases and say Rowan Williams was nice
