Lame to Fame 2023

Post by Admin »

Been 2 years since we last did one of these. Entries should ideally be within the last 2 years although anything lame will be accepted if necessary.

I'll start with me recently spending 10 minutes in a room with a vaguely familiar man who turned out to be Judge Rinder.

On an older scale, I sold Ian Lavender (Private Pike) a house in 1992. And once again had no idea who he was.

Well done for resurrecting this important topic. Last week I went to a pub that had been visited by John Travolta and spoke to the person who served him.

Was the room a courtroom?

Sadly, no.

I've got nothing from the last two years.

I once had to send a legal notice to Daily Thompson's Mum though.

I saw Lawrence vigoroux walking around in full training garb in Walthamstow mall earlier this year. Hope he's able to retain the same anonymity in Burnley when visiting his local TK Maxx now he's got that 4th choice epl keeper level of fame.

Formed an Orient radio show with Charlie G Hawkins hosting, who played Darren Miller on Eastenders. That little show went onto be The LO Down after I stepped away!

Further ago, I had a conversation with Martin 'Homes Under The Hammer' Roberts at Glastonbury who was pissed and very sunburnt.

Also, randomly popped into my head the other day that on a train from Kings Cross to Halifax in about 2009 I took my seat and watched them filming one of the Harry Potter films on the other platform. Think it was Emma Watson running into a wall.

This is the sort for stuff I’m looking for. Congratulations.

Not surprising really. If you'd asked who he was, he would have been given firm instructions not to tell you.

Recently whilst sitting at the train station waiting on my fare, Derek McInnes approached me and I said "It's no your taxi wee man".

He said, "How do you know its not for me I haven't even given you the name yet". Some people.

In the last year alone I sold a 5' Upholstered Bed Frame (Grey) and mattress to the cousin of U2's ex Tour Manager. Didn't want the mattress protector though which worried me.

I also met someone who purchased a second hand coffee table from Kate Bush's grandmother.

Just this last weekend, I attended the wedding of the filmmaker who does the "Put a shift in" segments in BBC Scotland's irreverent football podcast cum panel show "A view from the terrace". Sat opposite me for the meal was the on screen subject of these segments, Duncan (the filmmaker is also called Duncan, and so is know as "other Duncan" and is Mrs Spike's nephew)
It was a very lovely day

At the soft launch of the The Boleyn Tavern reopening in summer 2021 the owner of the pubco arranged for Dan Cruikshank to sign a copy of the Victorian Pubs book (that he’d taken the photos for 40 years before) and we had a photo taken together outside the boozer.

This is not within the last two years but I was in a Virgin gym in Canary Wharf and I went into the small communal steam room. The only other person in there was Carlos Tévez.

Correction: as reported previously on this board, I recently found myself sat opposite Wes Streeting for a meal in Manchester's Chinatown.

Walked past at least one of the Michael family, who used to be on Gogglebox, on Blackhorse Road the other day.

My driving instructor was also teaching the lead singer of Cradle of Filth. Sometimes his lesson would be right after mine.
