It’s been going on for years about 2010 according to the inter web, they have found some oil, mainly cod πŸ˜‚

While the sea is wet, Argentina will never own the Falkland Islands.

There were some indigenous people in Australia when Europeans turned up is maybe the mistake he is pointing out.

If he is, then he's misunderstood my point.

Aboriginal people were the first colonisers of Australia. Europeans were the first colonisers of the Falklands.

Often, when we talk about European colonisation it is in terms of displacement of a prior population. That does not apply in the case of the Falklands.

Wasn't theirs in the first place? So no one to give it back to, seems we're stuck with it

Exactly . The Falklands was a UK territory before the nation of Argentina was even created .

The Falkland Isles are of no use to the British and a major drain on our already overstretched finances. However the fact that it is a British Colony off the coast of Argentina ( albeit many, many miles distant ), is a huge irritation and discomfort to the Argentines. Therefore we should do all within our powers, to maintain the status quo for eternity.

The people there had a referendum and voted something like 99% to stay with the UK . It is ours for eternity because that's what the people voted for . The only way that will ever change ,apart from WW3 is if the people there wish it to change . That will be their decision alone and not Argentina's.

Once again a disrespectful post on here to stir up the sh-t. Perhaps you should ask all the widows, service men that were injured in the conflict, I know drop Simon Western a text and tell him your views. Sort of post that tuffers or one of his close numptys would put on thereπŸ™Š
The loss of life on both sides was avoidable. The catalyst was of course the Argentinan Facist regime at the time, but if Thatcher had listened to reason, rather than her plummeting poll ratings, the loss wouldn't have happened. The USA, among others, were calling for restraint, however Thatcher saw the chance to change her fortunes and took it without a thought for needless slaughter of both British & Argentinan lives

Won’t argue about Thatcher and what a lot of people don’t
Necessarily realise that it was her government that was pulling the troops out of the Faulklanks just before they invaded and was negotiating sovereignty with the greasy Argentines. None the less people gave there live to keep it British and long may it continue as long as the inhabitants want it that way, no matter what the Argentinians want to call it or anyone else for that matter. It is the faulklandsπŸ™Š
