More E10 based O's fans
Interesting listening to the Orient Outlook pod that Kent said we have more Leyton based fans & this is increasing with newbies moving to the area. I helped leaflet at the Leyton festival last year promting the club & was surprised at the no of Leyton based fans coming up to me saying they were fans.

That can only be a good thing.
The trick is to get a team good enough to keep them interested.
People will soon get fed up if we are treading water in the bottom six.

When I moved out of my last flat, my two mates moved to the flats at the end of Rockholt Road. One is an Orient fan. Theres loads of them flats and the majority of people who live there are middle class 25-45 year olds who cant afford central london any more (although they aint cheap). The area is definitely changing and i think our crowds will continue to increase over the next 10 years.

Re: More E10 based O's fans
Looks as though a few of them may be coming on Saturday if the seat availability on the ticket website is anything to go by.
Some areas are already showing full or βlowβ availability.
If Cheltenham bring a few then we could be looking at a 5,500 size crowd.

The newcomers to Leyton have no doubt increased our crowds over recent years

This is exactly how I started going to the O's. Moved to London for work in 1986, bought a flat in Markhouse Rd, wanted to go watch football on a Saturday so started going to my new local team. Been supporting them ever since. Living back in Scotland now but still get to a few games, still a member of the Supporters Club, still support the club financially when and how I can.

Legacy of 2012 Olympics and the east end development maybe? But itβs a positive thing IMO, letβs get them in the doors

Iβm a former E5 glory hunter too. Quick walk or bike ride over Aknee marshes to game. Then I went up market and moved to N17.

Live in E4 so already one of the locals that come tbh although none of my mates are season ticket holders they all come to several games a year work depending. In the borough for the people that don't support us we definitely most peoples 2nd team. They tend to come to us as most of them have kids and have been priced out of watching the team they support.

Re: More E10 based O's fans
Looking at the seat availability on the website, most areas are either full or with βLow Availability β
The East Stand being the only one with Good Availability in some areas.
Letβs hope the team perform and the fans keep coming back.

Didn't notice if the NL Champion banners were still up in the High Road after the Norwich friendly? Always thought we should have a large banner on the railings outside tube advertising next matches. Last season we had posters in shops down the High Road but don't seem to have this season

Used to be a 10 minute walk from where I used to live in E11, but moved further east and now around 45 minutes. Took around 20 minutes across Marshes taking direct route prior to Spitalfields plonking itself in the way. Could see ground from my bedroom when floodlights were on.
Also was an E8 glory hunter when I was in primary school catching 236 bus to games.

All around Leytonstone still, often wondering if I should nab the one near the Green Man roundabout...aylesburyos wrote: βWed Jul 31, 2019 9:50 am Didn't notice if the NL Champion banners were still up in the High Road after the Norwich friendly? The new wave of fans are coming from 2 places. A lot of people are turning their back on the Premier League for one and there's a load of middle class bellends coming in from the home counties gentrifying the borough.

Re: More E10 based O's fans
I think the point about turning away from Premier League clubs is valid. I used to go to Arsenal and Chelsea a fair amount with the occasional visit to West Ham with away fans, but nowadays the games are re-scheduled for TV and the ticket prices are eye-watering. So for my regular Saturday 3pm football fix I go to Orient. I still go to Arsenal and Chelsea for midweek cup games but little more.BiggsyMalone wrote: βWed Jul 31, 2019 11:13 am The new wave of fans are coming from 2 places. I don't think there are many middle class err people going to Orient. Also many of the middle class people in Waltham Forest are those priced out of Hackney and Islington, which is how I ended up in E11 back in 1992. Little changes.
