The clue is in the name although they have been working hard to exploit their heritage. Have had to go there to do some work a few times, best pub lunch is the Barge near the seafront which is about 10 minutes drive from the Ground.

There are some very good fish & chip shops in cleethorpes, though steer clear of cod. Apparently ordering cod in cleethorpes is like ordering a well done steak or asking Mick for an unedited copy of The Witches

Scunthorpe? Not been for years but I recall it being a rubbish identikit ground but in a barren deserted wasteland.

Never bet on 0-0. You get the same odds for ‘No Goal scorer’ but will still win if there’s an own goal. Like our game at tranmere.

Cleethorpes for fish and chips, boozers and crazy golf, then walk along the sea wall to the ground. Good little away supporters snug bar at the ground, were very welcoming last time I went, saw an Alabi wonder goal and had lumped on us at 9/4 to cover the day out.

My wife's godmother lived in Blundell Ave opposite the ground. There was at one time a pub there, enjoyed a nice pint or two of Old Peculiar there.
Also a McDonalds just up the road, my daughter liked their Happy Meal when she was young.
Blundell Ave leads up to a park if you want somewhere to eat your haddock and chips

This is the best advice so far. While I wouldn't want to live there, Cleethorpes is a perfectly serviceable day out by the sea. Grimsby itself is much less fun, but the ground is on the Cleethorpes side of the border, as is the station closest to it.

Awaydays by the sea are always a bit special, in my view - and Cleethorpes has more to commend it than many others (Bognor was particularly disappointing)

If Brexitty bleakness is your thing, then the train journey across North Lincolnshire will deliver in spades.

We recently went to a museum in N Lincs, not the nicest area, but Barton Upon Humber was pleasant enough. We stayed in a place called Crowle, it was ok and no worse than many other places.
