She was clearly a formidable political operator. And her leadership during the Covid crisis showed up Johnston's inadequacies even more than he managed himself.

At last someone applies the correct label. Yes she was a formidable political operator. Not a great leader or politician who delivered concrete gains to the people of Scotland.

No and the failure to manage the sucession can be added to the fail list. The whole thing stinks. It's all happened too quickly for there not to be a scandal behind it.

That Craig Murray geezer has bolted to a hidey hole in the Outer Hebrides with a brief case full of leaked or hacked emails from some SNP top brass and is taking legal advice on whether they can be used. Watch his space.

Yeah, there's definitely a whiff of jumping before she's shoved from a burning plane without a parachute about this.

This is a decent analysis. Warning: includes liberal use of the C word

I really didn’t like her, she was the main reason for me not wanting to vote for independence, as petty as that sounds. However since, although not coming round to her, have very much come round the the pro indy idea, if someone more likeable were to come in and manage to get indyref2, which I highly doubt will happen, I would probably vote differently this time round.

You either want independence or you don't, surely. Don't understand why it depends on who's leading the SNP

Ok message received and understood. Will try to get Rick Wellens in to lead the campaign for independence.

Nope. The clear indication that there is no obvious successor makes your baseless assertion just look stupid.

Ok. I'll let him know he needs more " balance" in his articles.

There is plenty of analysis and explanation about where Nicola and the SNP got to where they are. So I make you bang wrong.

Of course it matters.

I would have happily had a leftist, Corbyn led Brexit. But absolutely not one led by the tories and other right wing gobshites.

Was woken at about 5 o'clock this morning by Storm Otto. Blowing an absolute hooly in the frozen north. Couldn't get back to sleep so started thinking about boring things to send me to sleep. Keir Starmer popped into my head. I thought, could probably make a good anagram out of that name. Half an hour later, had come up with Sir Meerkat. We'll chuffed I was. It was only later this morning that I realised there was a bloody R left over. If it wasn't for that extra R I would probably have voted Labour at the next election. As it is, will just have to stick with the SNP

First off, I didn't call YOU stupid. I said your baseless assertion looked stupid.
Second - You have now adopted the classic pose of someone who has no argument to rely on by becoming needlessly and pointlessly aggressive. I've demolished you verbally and you have nothing else to offer.
Thirdly - While I believe there are some circumstances where only violence will accomplish what needs to be done the quote 'violence is the last refuge of the incompetent' holds broadly true.
Fourthly - Let me know the next time you're in Edinburgh and I'll happily buy you a drink or a coffee and we can discuss it like rational adults.

The lawyer was a QC or Queens Council as he liked to often spell it. Fantastic alias. Enjoyed the Friday night Bantz. Great days.
