A Question to Nigel & Kent?
I have heard both Nigel & Kent, say, in various interviews over the years, that running a team in the Championship is ridiculously expensive, and the impression was they wouldnt want to do that, so my question is, If we get promotion this season, would you not want any more promotions? Would you scupper things, if we looked like getting promotion from League 1? Would you sell up and move on, rather than finance a club in the Championship?

I'd expect our silent silent investor could become interested in increasing funding, or just more new investors if we get to the championship .

They 'read everything'.
They might bring in other investors. I don't know what ambitions all the current other investors have.

Based on the January transfer activity it doesn’t look like they are all that keen on financing a League 1 club, let alone the championship!ComeOnYouOs wrote: ↑Mon Jan 30, 2023 9:32 am I have heard both Nigel & Kent, say, in various interviews over the years, that running a team in the Championship is ridiculously expensive, and the impression was they wouldnt want to do that, so my question is, If we get promotion this season, would you not want any more promotions? Before I even clicked beyond the title I thought exactly that - and as expected its someone seeking attention from a disparate band of Orient fans. Nothing good will come out of this.Wally Banter wrote: ↑Mon Jan 30, 2023 9:43 am Are you expecting them to read this and reply to you here?

If we go up, I fully expect at least half of the investors to be selling up and f*cking off with a healthy returnComeOnYouOs wrote: ↑Mon Jan 30, 2023 9:32 am I have heard both Nigel & Kent, say, in various interviews over the years, that running a team in the Championship is ridiculously expensive, and the impression was they wouldnt want to do that, so my question is, If we get promotion this season, would you not want any more promotions? Re: A Question to Nigel & Kent?
We're still only a few years out from Bechetti spending way, way beyond our means and nearly bankrupting the club. How fickle do you have to be to start complaining about our budget whilst we've built a squad that is challenging for automatic promotion?
Sadlier will not be cheap, we've brought in two defenders that we otherwise would have not needed due to injuries, and we've had one of our presumably highest earners return early from a loan spell. Whether we've recruited the right players is another question and is where Long and Wellens will be judged. But I'm not sure the board can be criticised for the amount they're putting in We're losing a massive amount of money every season at it is.

It'll be mission accomplished for N&T to establish us in League One.

We’re halfway through year 6 of the 6 year plan. 1. It is incredibly expensive to run a football team in the Championship.ComeOnYouOs wrote: ↑Mon Jan 30, 2023 9:32 am I have heard both Nigel & Kent, say, in various interviews over the years, that running a team in the Championship is ridiculously expensive, and the impression was they wouldnt want to do that, so my question is, If we get promotion this season, would you not want any more promotions? Not sure how you have made the leap from the owners staying a fact into the owners not wanting Orient to get into the Championship.
Seems a huge leap in logic

Correct. It is expensive but the income will be substantially increased.spen666 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 30, 2023 11:40 am1. That is balanced out by shifting two high earners in Wood and Coleman though.Mistadobalina wrote: ↑Mon Jan 30, 2023 10:13 am We're still only a few years out from Bechetti spending way, way beyond our means and nearly bankrupting the club. Wage arrangements for these youth loans are up for debate so really the one addition overall in terms of senior pros. We went into the season at least one light based on those we released so it's really pushing it to be suggesting this window's activity is going beyond our means.
Speaking of outs does anyone know what's happening with Georgiou? Seems like no-one at the club even acknowledges he exists at this point?

Re: A Question to Nigel & Kent?
We are already spending way beyond our means. Look at our annual losses. Whether the losses we're making are justified by the on pitch performance and recruitment (I'd say being top at this stage of season suggests we're doing more right than wrong), but there is nothing stingy about an ownership that is happy subsidising 2m+ for the last few years.gshaw wrote: ↑Mon Jan 30, 2023 12:55 pmThat is balanced out by shifting two high earners in Wood and Coleman though.Mistadobalina wrote: ↑Mon Jan 30, 2023 10:13 am We're still only a few years out from Bechetti spending way, way beyond our means and nearly bankrupting the club. Re: A Question to Nigel & Kent?
One step at a time. We are a million miles away from the championship . We’re finding it hard to get out of L2 right now . More to the point, if we go into L 1 do we have the funds to buy a L1 team?
RW said we can’t afford the calibre of players bought by Colchester or Gillingham , so therefore how can we fund a team for a division higher , especially considering half of our regular players are only Loans !

Why don’t both of you listen to RW’s interview where he reiterates that he has been given everything he has asked for and wonders why some people are saying otherwise? Perhaps you’d like to explain to Ritchie the discrepancies between your respective comments and what he is saying. Oh, I know why, it gets in the way of having a pop.The Reverend wrote: ↑Mon Jan 30, 2023 9:51 amBased on the January transfer activity it doesn’t look like they are all that keen on financing a League 1 club, let alone the championship!ComeOnYouOs wrote: ↑Mon Jan 30, 2023 9:32 am I have heard both Nigel & Kent, say, in various interviews over the years, that running a team in the Championship is ridiculously expensive, and the impression was they wouldnt want to do that, so my question is, If we get promotion this season, would you not want any more promotions? Re: A Question to Nigel & Kent?
It's amazing the speed that Comeonyouos, Cockhat, GShaw, Poundshop, and a few others sprung into action when results stopped flowing. Didn't hear from them for 5 months but the first stumble they are in there like a shot with the normal "Ling delaying transfers" + "Board has no ambition" + "Wellens will be off" type crap that you would expect from the fickle moaners union on this board.Long slender neck wrote: ↑Mon Jan 30, 2023 10:20 am Good to see comeonyourarse thinking ahead to the next thing he can moan about anyway.
Results and performances in January have been frustrating but the players haven't become bad players overnight, confidence needs to restored asap, one decent result and some better luck with injury and suspension and we will be off again.
