As much as I hate the Tories it feels wrong to strike to force a general election .I'm not sure that's how democracy is supposed to work . So every time we get a government we don't like we strike to force another election .No, that's wrong.

Stupid idea, why would it force a general election. The tories have a large majority. My working class town mp has a large tory majority, why would his supporters actually support a strike

Do you think the current system we have in place is how democracy is supposed to work?RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 29, 2022 12:19 pm As much as I hate the Tories it feels wrong to strike to force a general election .I'm not sure that's how democracy is supposed to work . I would support any action that would result in the corrupt Tories being forced out of Government and the whole of the working class strikers being given the necessary above inflation pay awards to keep their heads above water and protect their terms and conditions.

The Tories will lose a massive amount of seats and lose their majority after treating Nurses, railway workers and many , many more with such contempt for only asking to keep their take home pay in line with inflation and protect their pay and conditions.

Yeah, who’d want a system where if the government aren’t doing a good job, we’d all be able to hold them to account.RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 29, 2022 12:19 pm As much as I hate the Tories it feels wrong to strike to force a general election .I'm not sure that's how democracy is supposed to work . Re: Would You Support. A General Strike to Force a General Election? POLL
I would but I’m not sure that the “drawing nude ladies and occasionally sketching someone’s dog for money” strike would have the required impact

He's a good man. Had business issues in Harlow at the start of covid and handled it in hours personally. My local MP got an assistants assistant to copy-paste something almost 3 weeks later. I then complained and she got her assistant to call me!!Sid Bishop wrote: ↑Thu Dec 29, 2022 1:16 pmRobert Halfon is a Conservative is a very popular and hardworking MP for Harlow.

Re: Would You Support. A General Strike to Force a General Election? POLL
Absolutely I would support it.
The government is tyrannical, and we need to save this country.
The amount of corruption by the government is off the scale.
I believe that if Tories were in the lead in the polls, they would call an election themselves, is only they know they will lose, that's stopped them.

I am most looking forward to all the diversity and inclusion we are going to get under Labour. It’s just what we need and I for one can’t wait.

Re: Would You Support. A General Strike to Force a General Election? POLL
The Tories ain't gonna call an election, and I don't think at this moment in time, Labour even want power.
They're looking at the utter shambles the country is in, and thinking "give 'em another 2 years to at least sort some of the mess out, then we'll have a go"
As execrable as they are, the Tories at least have experience- Labour have none. I don't think they want power until 2024...which no doubt they will get.
I think they would be wise to 'sit off' a bit at this moment to see if things improve a bit before they take the reigns..

Tempting, but it is the kind of thing that Trump would do - throwing toys out of the park…

I voted yes here cos it'd be funny to see so many heads explode but really, what's the point? Get a Tory lite government a bit earlier?

Even though Sir Kier may not be your ideal, his Labour party are just miles better than the Tories.

Trouble is Poundy we would be opening up a can of worms . How would you feel if sometime in the future the same thing was to happen in reverse . We're better than that .PoundhillO wrote: ↑Thu Dec 29, 2022 2:12 pm I would support any action that would result in the corrupt Tories being forced out of Government and the whole of the working class strikers being given the necessary above inflation pay awards to keep their heads above water and protect their terms and conditions.
