I say :- Read " I will Fear No Evil " by Robert Heinlein. It is quite an amusing read on this topic. It is a bit dated as before transplants became the almost norm.
Good point. But I preferred ‘Time Enough For Love’.

I'd happily take immortality. Curious to know how old people are who don't want it?

Have always been a bit scared of dying - I’m not at all religious but did get sent to an evangelical church between the ages of 9-12 when I was a bit impressionable and it out a bit of the ol’ fear into me, which I have to admit stuck with me a bit. Totally don’t believe in heaven, hell or any afterlife, but the idea of nothingness is terrifying, and I listen to a LOT of physics/space/science audiobooks that I find weirdly comforting. Sounds a bit mad as I type it.
But no, living forever would not be good in practice. What I would really like is to be able to choose when I’ve had enough, then give myself 6-12 months of winding down then pop off in me sleep

Also, I kind of realised that the changes you’d have in your life in 20s & 30s can mean that you feel like ŷou have different kind of stages/chapters etc, and you maybe don’t always think of death cos you’re so unaware of what life will be like when you’re at that point in life. Living in the house that I’ll hopefully be in for next 30 years, with the person I’ll hopefully be with for the next 30 years, I definitely feel more aware of time going by. Especially after how the two years between 2020 and now feel like they took about a week and a half

The weird thing about nothingness is that we were nothingness for billions and billions of years before we were born, and we enter into a state of nothingness every time we go into dreamless sleep.

It’s the state we have the most experience of, and yet it is impossible to comprehend.

For me it's the opposite. I love the idea of being able to see what happens to the world and the evolution both physically and mentally of humanity.

I'd rather just watch it on the telly than have to endure it myself.

The longer you spend on the planet the more you realise it’s overrated. As you get older the bits that were magical like Christmas fade away and the bits you hate you just become more and more aware of. Example, I love animals, I purposely avoid watching anything online that shows an animal suffering. As I have only a limited time here I can hide from it effectively. If I was were here for eternity that would be impossible. I would become an activist, I would go deeper and deeper into the hole. Depression would take over. There would be no escape. Even typing it gives me the willlies. No, we are here for just about the right amount of time. Have a look, thank you very much. Let someone else have a look.

I’d only stay on if I could go around bumping off all the money-grabbing, cheating, chiselling, self-centred arrogant sh-ites who run this bloody planet. I believe that would be a never ending job which could keep me occupied until the end of time.

Why would you not want to live forever - as long as you could be 27 forever!!

Who wants to be 177? 77 would be bad enough. Besides, we all die and we are remembered only after a few beers by our childrens friends.

No. I’ve just turned 60, incredibly, and I’m fully aware that I’m nowhere as fit as I once was. I’m very much resigned to the fact that statistically I’m in my last decade, and probably won’t see the end of that. After a lifetime of working as a mechanical engineer my hands are f****d and won’t see me through to retirement, I’ve got no pension other than the state one so financially I’m even more f****d than my hands. There’s a strong history of dementia in both mine and my wife’s families, so we have an agreement that we won’t let each other go through that, so it’s pillow time when it comes to it.

In the meantime I’d be happy to see the O’s win at least one more promotion, and it’s looking like this season may be our best chance. Some good news at last!
