So it goes into their pockets? Of course not, it goes to helping run the club

"the fund will be used as a contribution towards the new floodlight system that is to be installed at the stadium during the summer months, bringing the lighting up to Sky Bet Championship standards."

It means they have to take £40k less out of their pockets than they otherwise would have so yes, effectively.

The supporters club should be buying shares in the club with this money.

Dunno 'bout you bruv but would like to have seen this dosh spent on a player. There should be restrictions on what it can be used on. "Ring fencing" I think you accountant types call it.

Good idea.

I actually think they could do one better, instead of handing the money over to Ling to spaff up the wall on another crock, they could get Karen and the bloke with the sandwiches to actually buy a player and hand the player over to the club.

Wait until you hear about what they have in store for the young 'uns. You will go mental.

Lucky for them my bruv is onto them and holding their feet to the fire. Well he would be if they weren't completely ignoring him a bit like mum did when we were nippers.

I'd like to have seen the SC get some shares for each donation, so at least they increased the fans stake in the club. Over the years since Hearn started that could have grown to a decent percentage of ownership and, maybe, helped block some of the dodgier decisions taken in running the Club.

Problem is new investors come along and dilute the fans shareholding to nothing when they bung in their cash for shares, so the fans might as well just hand over the money and have their names inscribed on a brick.

Is it really a "donation" to the club, or is it more by way of a rental for the premises? I ask because a number of supporter clubs at Raith Rovers are allowed space within the stadium for their bars, but in return pay over a significant portion of the profit to the club in lieu of rental.

It's being put towards the new floodlights. It's going into the club, not to them...

We all love Orient , don't we ? . Well then we're all pulling together to try and improve the club . For example the Orient outlook podcast guys said the club wanted Championship standard floodlights which I would imagine are not cheap .

If the supporters hadn't gifted the investors £40k, then they would have had to cough up an additional £40k to pay for these lights. It's the same thing. This isn't difficult.

Do you tell many multi millionaires what they should spend their money on regularly? ;)

One of the terms of the donations is that it goes on the things like the floodlights (think it was used to clean the gable a while back)and goes nowhere near the playing squad.

Prove it.

The point is valid. Even LOFT head honchos have agreed above. Sticking in that amount of money deserves a stake in the club.

Barry Hearn is some £500k - £1m richer than he otherwise would have been thanks to these donations over the years.

So apart from moaning about SC donations to the club and the u-11 season tickets being withdrawn, anything else you want to grumble about?

We will all benefit from improved floodlighting from next season thanks to this donation and rather moan at the club you should be taking issue with all those muppets who have abused the under 11 ticket scheme in the past and forced the club into taking action.

The SC have donated £1.35 million over many seasons, if a portion of that were taken up in shares frankly it would make no difference to anything.
