Re: The trans debate
On reflection my last comment should have included the word again about half way through the sentence.

Almost as if the only way you can navigate this is by sniffily pretending there’s some obvious aspect we’re all missing about why it’s a good idea for a male to be in the female category, winning the event by virtue of male strength.
Such a tiresome debate, I’m sure you’d win it if only you could be bothered to state the obvious…

Here they are.
A crowd of perfectly sane and rational individuals gather to protest at a Womans Place event (an organisation that is set up to support women who are victims of violence), in an effort to put these women right on some points they must be unsure of.

Re: The trans debate
I think they're chanting "TERFS off our turf."
And I think a TERF is derogatory term they've invented to describe women who think they're a bunch of nutjobs.
But my favourite is the fist-pumping howler in the leopard print top. Can we get that one in as a mascot alongside Theo?

Re: The trans debate
Imagine still thinking this is a complicated topic…
No wonder both Mick McQuaid and MB Gold have both done a “must dash - game day!” when scrutinised on their unwavering support for male people who want to redefine women to include men.

The 'protesters in that clip above are not the mainstream, are they?

Ha to both. Got actual work to do this afternoon so I’m gonna have to dash myself, but if you actually want a proper answer, I’ll give you one Monday morning
Re: The trans debate
Even Vlad's getting involved in the debate now...
Vladimir Putin has claimed the West are "trying to cancel" Russia like they canceled JK Rowling.
The Russian president, who has been struck down by sanctions over his invasion of Ukraine, said the Harry Potter author was singled out for not satisfying “the demands of gender rights”.
He then appeared to draw comparisons between Ms Rowling and his country, accusing the West of “progressive discrimination of everything to do with Russia”.
“They canceled JK Rowling, the children's author. Her books are published all over the world, all because she didn't satisfy the demands of gender rights,” he said.

Re: The trans debate
I'm not sure. In so far as this movement can have a 'mainstream', I think they may be part of it. There are no doubt more 'reasonable' supporters, but they are not the activists and are therefore not the ones who are driving things.Gary the Plumber wrote: ↑Fri Mar 25, 2022 3:05 pmIt is a complicated topic.

Even ol' Vlad can't help stirring the pot on this topic. Oh wow does this sh*tstorm have many dimensions.
