I suspect the real reason the skin colour emojis were introduced is that it enables Cambridge Analitica & their ilk to segment data even more, not by race, but by attitude to race, or "wokeness"

Dictionary definition of woke is "alert to injustice in society" so I don't see why everyone gets hot under the collar when they talk about people being woke. Everyone should be.
