Not heard that and really hope it’s not true. Wish him well. Thoughts with his family.

Horrid news, and cuts across all parties and all members of parliament.
R.I.P. David Amess, from al all I've heard a terrific constituency MP.

FFS.
He Chaired a committee I had a brief involvement with which tirelessly and repeatedly tried to pressure ministers into adapting building regulations post-Lakanal to prevent a repeat disaster. Had successive ministers listened to him then Grenfell may have been avoided.

He is (sadly now, was) MP for the next constituency along from me, some years ago he held a couple of tea parties in successive years to try and break a world record of the number of centenarians in one place. My Great Aunt was one of those, and when she died a couple of years later he took the time to come along to her stone setting. I've always remembered that, and how respectful he was at the cemetery. An "unacceptable" level of Covid cases means ministers should trigger their Plan B for the pandemic in England, doctors say.
The British Medical Association (BMA) accused the government
of being "wilfully negligent" for not reimposing rules such as
mandatory face masks.

Another Trade deal
https://www.theguardian.com/business/20 ... ing-to-gdp
Ardern said that Covid-19 had taught the country that “we must have as many options for our world-class products to ensure certainty for our primary producers, our economy and our people”.
The deal may boost New Zealand’s GDP by $970m or around 0.3%. However, last year’s analysis by the UK government found that its effect on Britain’s GDP would probably have “limited effect … in the long run” – being between a positive growth of 0.01% or negative growth of -0.01%.

Conservative MPs just voted against an ammendment to the environment Bill which would have made it illegal for water companies to dump raw sewage into our rivers. Why would they do that? Money must be involved.
