Southend United
Looks like they could only be going to spend 1 season
in the Vanarama National League .
Lost to Solihull & are in the bottom 3 below Barnet

Ron Martin winding up the traveling Southend fans by just going over and standing in front of them. Can't understand why

Re: Southend United
I recall looking at the tables about three years back, Shrimpers in League One and us National League, and asking myself would I swap with them? The answer was “no”, they seemed a club under terrible ownership and destined to drop, we were a club under excellent ownership and destined to rise. And so it’s proved, and sadly for them things are much the same but two tiers lower.

Re: Southend United
Basically he's gambled the football club in order to build their mythical new 22k-seater stadium at Fossetts Farm. The longer the stadium debacle has dragged on - over 20 years now - the more debt has been racked up by the club to Ron Martin and his web of property companies (about £18m by now, I've read).
They've had multiple winding-up orders, unpaid wages, embargoes... they only recently appointed a CEO again after a couple of years, as RM was running it all himself - badly, of course. On the pitch they've been awful for several years, reeling from one manager who overspends to another - they've gone from pretty reasonable in League One to awful in the National League in just a few years.
RM won't sell as the new stadium is his golden goose, won't put the club into admin or wind it up as then his own companies collapse under the debt, and can't sell anyway as the amount he's owed is astronomical.

Re: Southend United
They look to be in far worse a state than we were, could tumble even further down the leagues before it gets better, don't think they'll be back for a long time though. That new stadium is an albatross round their neck pulling them down further and further with no end in sight.

Re: Southend United
Yes, feel for their fans. Roots Hall is decrepit but right now anything more than a tiny stadium is going to be way too big and expensive for them.
Their squad is almost as old as the ground and it's hard to see how anyone is going to be able to turn it around.
At least Belezebub's reign was fairly brief, but for Southend it's more like death by a thousand cuts.
