I dont dislike Starmer, he's just nothing, a meh. He' s so dull and lifeless and wonder why he wanted the job in the first place. I'm a labour voter and probably wouldn't vote for him, I dont know why non labour voters would.

He was described as the rebound guy your Mum goes to after a divorce, safe reliable but not exciting and it won't last

Doesn’t your mum go to someone completely inappropriate after a divorce?

Maybe Starmer (and the Centrist Dads) should join the LibDems…
If he was that bad, wouldn’t Tory voters want him to stay?

No because as a Red Tory he is leeching off support from the real Tory scum.

It depends on who she divorced.

Starmer is 100% right when he says the first priority is to get elected and policies need to be those that can achieve that.

Silly User Name said " Hard left heckling Sir Keir while he was talking about his Mum dying "

I say " Yeah all one of her was at it wasn't she? Made a huge impact ( that was irony ). Failed MP from up North made some very ungracious comments afterwards, when interviewed and made the Far Left look even sillier

You still a member PAM?
Haven't been a member since my late twenties when it turned into the Blair fan club.

Yes indeed, yourself?

Just listened to all 90 minutes of Starmer. A decent performance and of course ticked all the boxes he needed to. Competent.

What struck me was two things, his consigning of the Corbyn era to the dustbin on history and his recognition of what Labour achieved when last in office - Blair (2 years of Brown).

New, New Labour!

It did. And I feel I know his dad quite well, not to mention others he decided to bring into the conversation by way of examples of what made him the person he now is. But it’s conference and that stuff is par for the course. Just loved the tool gag. Top draw.

And of course it had the usual spend, spend, spend and not where the money is coming from, other than it’s not the working person. Standard fayre.

But as a speech about intent, it was good and so far removed from the crap of the recent past.

He handled the hecklers very well too.

Won’t go down well with the extremest element. The party is moving towards election success, maybe not next time but he will do better than that dickhead Corbyn. Loved the dig at BoJo and the point about Labour still lost. 👏. Tells you all you need to know.

The only bit I've seen so far was the violent right wing thug physically assaulting the silent protester with the placard. 😥

The loony left showing up to something just to shout and walk out brilliantly encapsulates their attitude to winning elections

I see so criticising an incompetent buffoon who in a major crisis is STILL polling behind the most corrupt Tory government in living memory is the same as not accepting a democratic vote held 18 months ago. Right oh!
I love that summary of both leaders/parties. What a state we are in .

Pretty sure they’re on the side of the left.

Which makes things difficult when the only options are centre right or far right. 😢
