No morals, no shame, my cousin is Police Officer who said so much stolen goods from burglaries ended up in these shops and similar where ‘blind eyes’ were turned.
Money is not everything and some supporters may have had to resort to ‘selling the family silver’ on one or more occasions to make ends meet. They do not need this kind of sponsorship rammed down their throat at every home game as a reminder when they are trying to enjoy themselves. What a terrible decision. If it is not the negativity of betting firms it is this misery.
He was not only a respected former player, and he was not only this clubs leading goalscorer, he was amongst the all time greatest goalscorers (especially on a ratio basis) in league football!
Take a close look at his record. The mind boggles. For example :30 goals before the new year in one season in the old second division (now championship)
I always thought it was a bit of an insult to the man to commemorate him with what appears to be his name on a strip of ribbon at the south stand. Our former greats name should sit proudly on top of the south stand with a 'proper' sign.
Excellent business savvy by Kent and the team to raise some much needed funds by partnering with a company with local links that provided a decent service to the community
Spectacularly dim move from the Club, for a host of reasons, many of which have been set out above. I see Mr Macklin, on seeing how bad the reaction was, immediately moved to chuck an underling under the bus…

Is nothing sacred when it comes to money here?
If they will do this out of the blue without a care, they , would rename a JE Stand with the same impunity.

Can't all the American investors that have come on board recently finance the club sufficiently?

Obviously not. They need to get the chequebooks out.

Pathetic, insensitive, disrespectful, embarrassing. I do hope the powers that be read this thread as they will understand the anger this will generate among many of our number. This man is a revered and true Legend, we even had his wife visit from Australia when the stand was named after him. I understand the need to generate revenue but, although I am against his honour being diluted at all, perhaps the Tommy Johnston Stand sponsored by……… would have been more appropriate. To have his name sullied at all by a link to a Company with a dubious record of handling goods is just Effin unacceptable.
The stand was sponsored by some other no mark company previously and I made a point it was in bad taste to somewhat disagreement from others.
Regardless, i stick by it. It’s cheap and tacky, which is right on brand for them. Saying that, I loved a mooch round there as a kid looking at the guitars and pedals I couldn’t afford.
