Re: Promotion
With the investment the owners have put in then promotion is a must.
The next two weeks are crucial. No way is the squad good enough now.
But we have a manager who knows this and I expect him to put it right.

Re: Promotion
Agree with still wrong here. This current squad, as it is at the moment, is not good enough for promotion, but we have the best manager in the division.
He knows what is needed, and hopefully the powers to be will let him bring in the required players. A quality midfielder, and a goal scorer, would transform this squad IMO

Re: Promotion
2 promotions in 5 years was the plan, wasn’t it.
I know we wasted 2 years pissing about with embleton, so maybe that target has been reassessed?

The Directors have change their plan and have bought in a experienced manager who will not be cheap.
They will expect the team to be in and around the top all season.
I would guess that Jackett is the highest paid manager and will also have a top 3 budget.
He wouldn’t have taken the job on anything less.

Re: Promotion
The time wasted with Embleton was ridiculous, if anyone thought he was any good he would have another job by now.Ronnie Hotdogs wrote: ↑Sun Jul 25, 2021 11:54 am 2 promotions in 5 years was the plan, wasn’t it.

Re: Promotion
He will probably get another football related job but very much doubt that it will be as a football manager in the EFL Division One, Two or the National League.PoundhillO wrote: ↑Sun Jul 25, 2021 2:00 pmThe time wasted with Embleton was ridiculous, if anyone thought he was any good he would have another job by now.Ronnie Hotdogs wrote: ↑Sun Jul 25, 2021 11:54 am 2 promotions in 5 years was the plan, wasn’t it.

Embleton had the cojones to step up when we lost JE and keep things on a level, not many would have done that and for that I am grateful.Ronnie Hotdogs wrote: ↑Sun Jul 25, 2021 11:54 am 2 promotions in 5 years was the plan, wasn’t it.

Re: Promotion
What concerns me is our central midfield . Apart from Prately for McAnuff it's the same central midfield as last season which proved it wasn't good enough. Obviously there's still time to bring in another central midfielder and I'd also like to see another striker .

Not many assistant managers would have accepted a promotion to the manager role?
