But he was good in that position. His versatility at the back will be very valuable.

Solid as a right back and at the moment the best we have.

Absolute tosh.

This is great news, best we’ve had this pre season.

He's great back-up at CB, but behind the other three.
At right-back I prefer Judd over Turley.

I do think a lot of opinion is skewed by his very good performances at centre-back.
Him going to wing-back was a bit of a surprise, and this surprise factor I think caught opponents a bit off guard meaning he had a slightly more comfortable match (same goes for Alex Lawless when he played there). But over time I think opponents would have find a way to exploit it.

This time last year we were going on about how much more solid Sam Ling was than Caprice, but over the course of this season teams have figured out if they put a fast guy on him he will have a lot of joy, and we had to change formation as part of this.

Don't think Turley was great at wing-back against Solihull or Fylde and obviously the standard is better next year.

Still defence isn't really our weakness, and most of the lads should be able to cut it. I do fear that the starting XI for the first game next year will not be better than the one that ended last season, and we obviously are much worse off in the manager department.

Think there will be certain opponents where Turley will be just what we need. Aggression/attitude will be very useful when needed. With 7 subs we need to have a squad of players that offer different options and feel he is well worth a contract. As we've seen you can easily lose 2 CB's in the same match, so I'd much rather have cover in the squad than risk a potentially dodgy loan signing.

He's Andrew Whing Mk2 and that's a good thing. Solid, non-nonsense defender who can play CB and RB. Also willing to cheat and foul when required. Good signing.

Agreed he’s behind the other three CBs. But we’re going to need him plus another if we persist with the 5 at the back.

At wing back he was solid. I’m not sure how you think teams are going to exploit him there. He’s quick. He’s strong. He’s superb in the air. It just ain’t going to happen.

The only downside with him in that role is that he’s not as good offensively. He was better than you’d have expected for a no nonsense centre half, but he ain’t going to go past players with or without the ball. So he’s great at wing/full back when we need a more defensive formation, not so good when we need to be offensive.

I can’t see anything not to like about this. It’s great news.

Equally there will be games when it will make more sense to have him in there than Happe.

Agree with both if youse. But a tricky winger with pace will be what exploits him. As well as lack of support from a weak midfield.

Happy that he’s signed - solid defender - and would have him at RB over Ling any day.

A tricky winger with pace would prove just as much of a problem for Ling and even Judd. Turley is the quickest out of the three of them.

The thing Judd would have in his favour is that he’d drive this theoretical tricky winger with pace backwards by being offensively aggressive.

Turley would also "leave one on" said winger with a thundering challenge to slow him down a bit

I would not like to be that tricky winger. Whoever he is it looks like he's in for it big time. I worry for him.

Glad he’s signed. Good cover for injuries/rest at cb and rb:
Don’t think he’s good enough as a permanent rb stepping up a league but solid enough.

How old is this tricky, pacy, theoretical winger? Do you reckon we should go in for him?
