Whether it is the right move or not, only time will tell.

It is the obvious move, and in circumstances was unlikely to criticised.

Huge task on his shoulders to lift the club & players after recent events.

Am I interpreting right, that 'interim' in this case means 'open-ended, with the option of returning to their previous roles if it doesn't work out and we end up going for a permanent external appointment'?

It's the only sensible decision imo. An almost impossible task for someone else to come in at this point.

If things aren't working, there's the scope to bring someone else in when emotions aren't so raw and the chance for each to go back to their previous roles (assuming they want to).

I can live with that. It opens for another solution if we need one and it gives Ross a chance to prove himself with a group of players he knows well.

Good news.

I'm guessing neither Travis or Teague were at Torquay away last season when Embleton was in charge. Shocking performance and lucky not to lose by 10 goals.
I know different circumstances in terms of the team on the up but I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Hope we don't regret that. As far as I am concerned he is the least suitable out of him, Webb or McAnuff for the gig although it was the most natural succession to just promote everyone a place.

That said, he has to be backed now. I can't see why he has to be 'interim' - has a bit of the Benitez at Chelsea about it in that the club can save face if it don't work out. He is the manager end of, not as if he bombs he has to leave the club because of what the job title says.

Putting interim IMO does nobody any favours, all football managers are interim these days anyway.

Good luck to the man and hope he a massive success.

Im not sure Ross is up to the job to be honest. Time will tell. If it doesn't work out. We're told, they can all revert to their previous positions, but in that scenario, we would be in relegation trouble, and could go down.
Im crossing my fingers, and everything else now

Agreed, EggerlyWegerle. I’m not sure it’s very helpful, psychologically, to be named ‘interim’.

Im guessing you weren't at home to Dover when we drew 1-1 with the league leaders & Ross had them playing with a bit of fight.
Justin Was impressed enough to say in his 1st interview
" I saw enough to believe there was fight in the group".

Good Luck Ross ,

Its obvious you'd rather still be the no 2 .

That was the worst ever performance I have seen from a professional football team. But then in Edinburgh's first game in charge we lost to a rubbish Solihull team and we'd just been on a dreadful run that saw Davis sacked. You can't judge him on one off games.

Very difficult decision to take given our circumstances. We need to get behind him but I think that, if he listens and reacts well, to Danny and Jobi's input he has a chance. He needs to take advice from and listen to Lingy as well. I hope I am wrong but I have a gut feeling that this decision will unravel by shortly after Christmas and that the best we can hope for this season is mid table. Having said that I am not sure what other decision T+T could realistically have taken given the circumstances.

I can understand why this appointment has been made and I don't agree with it.

Like others I don't understand the "interim" description. He's either Head Coach or he's not. Does it mean we are still looking for a Head Coach?

I imagine it is like when Ling took over from Brush. He had a few months, results improved and he got the gig full time.

Let's hope he can continue the work. While I'm not enthralled by the appointment - it could be a shrewd one.

What the hell did Ling mean when he said

"... The caveat to that is that I don't want anyone being judged during this period that then can be surplus to requirements.”

For the life of me I can't work it out.

I’d imagine it implies we’ll be looking to appoint an external head coach later down the line once everyone has come to terms with events yes
