Sutton United
Can be promoted to League Two tomorrow. They need two points from their last two games. What an achievement that would be.
Harry Beautyman (29) has scored 11 goals from midfield. Very impressive.

Re: Sutton United
I remember Harry bring slated as having a promising future but he got released and he's been around the NK ever since. Perhaps he'll get another chance at league footy, not too many get a second bite at it I believe.

Re: Sutton United
It would be a great achievement for Sutton to get into the EFL .I enjoyed our games against them in the National League so it would be a fixture I would look forward to . I'm hoping Hartlepool can also get promoted via the play offs . I have alway viewed Hartlepool as a Northern image of Orient . They even got relegated the same time as we did . Also I have great respect for Jeff Stelling for the way he defended our pitch invasion live on air against colchester . Said we were true fans and put the boot into Bullshitti. Top bloke .

I can't remember but was Harrogate's grass pitch ready for the new season . ? They also had a 3G pitch and had to replace it but can't remember how long it took them.Loyal_Supporter wrote: ↑Sat May 22, 2021 10:06 pmCorrect.
Who would they share with while the pitch is replaced?

Yeah, I was thinking about our two home games against them Ronnie. I didn't go to the away games so I'll take your word for it that their grounds a shithole . Well if they get promoted they will need to do some work on it .Ronnie Hotdogs wrote: ↑Sat May 22, 2021 10:28 pmRedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Sat May 22, 2021 10:21 pm I enjoyed our games against them in the National League so it would be a fixture I would look forward to .

Incidentally , watching that Dayton challenge again made me wince . It took Dayton a long time to recover from that injury and we didn't see much of him after that . I hope he can get himself fixed up somewhere at a decent club

Yes in some ways I’m a bit surprised that Sutton’s ground is good enough to host EFL L2 games.RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Sat May 22, 2021 10:37 pmYeah, I was thinking about our two home games against them Ronnie. It’s just about NL standard, but maybe they will try to improve it.

Re: Sutton United
Agree about Stelling. The game against Crewe at Gresty Road when we lost 3-0 to confirm our relegation he proper laid into the glib reporter at the ground who when the third goal went in suggested that our fans should have stayed at home and couldn't understand why so many had made the trip to see an inevitable defeat. "I'll tell you why they travelled " said Stelling - "because they are proper fans of a proper football club ripped apart by a reckless owner" he was really angry. He's done well to help out Hartlepool and I too would like to see them back soner rather than later.RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Sat May 22, 2021 10:21 pm It would be a great achievement for Sutton to get into the EFL .I enjoyed our games against them in the National League so it would be a fixture I would look forward to . Re: Sutton United
Great. Last time I went, I had a row with some racist fannies handing out some ‘For Britain’ flyers outside the ground.
I look forward to round 2

The only positive about that place is there was a kids playground 50 yards outside the away entrance.

No, they shared with Doncaster for the first couple of months while their pitch was changed.RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Sat May 22, 2021 10:24 pmI can't remember but was Harrogate's grass pitch ready for the new season . ? Re: Sutton United
Stelling and his devotion to the monkey hangers, for me at least, identifies them as the northern Orient, l used to have a similar view about Bury but they've now become the object lesson of what happens when complete arses run football clubs. There but for Travis and Teague walks Leyton Orient.

Thanks Loyal. In that case I was thinking maybe they could ground share for a couple of months with Wimbledon. Yeah, last time we played at Gander Green the trains were delayed and I ended up getting the bus from Wimbledon.RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Sun May 23, 2021 9:06 amThanks Loyal. Re: Sutton United
They still a team of classless ankle breaking thugs or is their recent success the result of actually trying to play football?
Don’t fancy an away trip back to that sh*thole ground.

Re: Sutton United
I thought there were ground standards / criteria that had to be met before a team were allowed into league 2.
I can remember about 20 years ago, when Stevenage who won the National League, not being allowed up, because their ground didnt meet the minimum standards for league 2. They took the EFL to court, and lost, and Torquay, who finished last in league 2, were spared relegation.
I cant see how Suttons ground can be up to those standards. Its a pretty awful ground IMO

Re: Sutton United
If Sutton aren't allowed into L2 Jack's comments have an irony about them - Sutton could be replaced by Torquay - there's an away trip.
