It is madness to open up today
Utter madness, when this new virulent Coronavirus, is spreading.
This could have been prevented by closing the borders, but this is something our government has been slow to do all the way through.
Lockdown 3 will happen around October 2021

Can’t be that bad if it’ll take 5 months to lockdown again?ComeOnYouOs wrote: ↑Mon May 17, 2021 10:30 am Utter madness, when this new virulent Coronavirus, is spreading.

Re: It is madness to open up today
But are they ? I know several older people who have not taken up the jab offer ( I certainly have had both jabs ) madness in my opinion if people don't get vaccinated ☹☹
Re: It is madness to open up today
That's on them then, can't expect everyone else to be miserable because they couldn't be bothered

At least there will be no restriction on the number of people at their funerals.Currywurst and Chips wrote: ↑Mon May 17, 2021 10:55 amThat's on them then, can't expect everyone else to be miserable because they couldn't be bothered

The amount of olds I’ve had invading my personal space, presumably because they’ve had both jabs and think they’re now invincible, is ridiculous.
At least those who haven’t been jabbed would be maintaining social distancing, you’d imagine.

Yeah but when they start filling up the ITU's and overworking medical staff?
My drugs are no longer controlling my diabetes ( before you say I am overweight I am not. I've controlled it as best as possible for over 25 years ). I will probably have to go on insulin. For that, I have to go to a clinic at Bas Hospital. Been waiting over 10 weeks for an appointment. Anyone not had a jab, please realise how stupid and selfish you are being. It not just a matter of going to pubs.

Re: It is madness to open up today
Several of that demographic were causing trouble at the clinic where I went for my second jab a few weeks ago, refusing to co-operate with requests from the staff when having their jab and getting angry and aggressive with the staff. Also seen them being un-cooperative and rude to pub staff recently on a couple of visits because they don't like being told what to do and think they can create their own rules.Ronnie Hotdogs wrote: ↑Mon May 17, 2021 11:16 amThe amount of olds I’ve had invading my personal space, presumably because they’ve had both jabs and think they’re now invincible, is ridiculous.

Might as well lock down for ever as this will be with us for some time and will continue to mutate.

It’s not exactly opening up. Places can open with social distancing inside. As long as people stick to the rules, it will be fine

I can see us all getting jabbed once a year as the vaccines are tweaked to deal with the different variants .Story of O wrote: ↑Mon May 17, 2021 12:48 pm Might as well lock down for ever as this will be with us for some time and will continue to mutate.

Re: It is madness to open up today
There is probably more chance of bumping into an O's supporter than someone with Covid, so it isn't madness to open up today. But, I will maintain a degree of caution, masks indoors and not shaking hands (although touch now seems not to be considered a big factor in transmission). Every day 1000's more are vaccinated and/or have their immunity increased after a jab.
I think there is more chance of catching cold than Covid with reduced lockdown

Re: It is madness to open up today
I have only attended this ground once, in 1976 for a pre-season friendly against Dundee FC. If memory serves it was 5-2 to the Dee.Dunners wrote: ↑Mon May 17, 2021 1:08 pmFinally treating the missus to that guided tour of Nairn County FC's ground that she's always wanted?Max B Gold wrote: ↑Mon May 17, 2021 12:59 pm I suspect this may not be the right thread to let youse know me and Eva Gold are off to Nairn on Friday for a long weekend. I also recall not paying to get in having scrambled over the wall. Money was tight. Besides why do you even have to pay to watch a friendly. Unacceptable.

Re: It is madness to open up today
Out of interest, does anyone know where in London the cluster of cases of the Indian variant have cropped up in? Not heard where these have been found.
Back to the original point, yeah I can understand the view that some do not want to re-open but as has been said above if we go about this responsibly then the impact would be minimal. I say this as someone who had their second jab four weeks ago though. Though the issue as always will be those who are incapable of taking care or acting responsibly and taking a yard when they've been offered an inch.

They didn’t last year and it was ok. It started kicking off when the kids/students went back and the government told everyone to go back to workRonnie Hotdogs wrote: ↑Mon May 17, 2021 2:53 pmThey won’t.BiggsyMalone wrote: ↑Mon May 17, 2021 12:54 pm It’s not exactly opening up.
