Covid: Morrisons and Sainsbury's ban maskless shoppers
About time too, I hope all the major supermarkets follow their lead. On the other hand they say............ ''unless they are medically exempt.''
Anyone can say they are ''medically exempt'' and unless the NHS starts issuing certificates that state that for health reasons, this person is exempt from wearing a face mask, how can it be proved otherwise ?

Blinking good job! Imagine how many people have been infected in the last year ! Not that hard or inconvenient to wear a little mask.

Pretty much meaningless soundbite. as Sid says, people will just say medically exempt and at the moment no one can prove otherwise. So doesnt change anything.

I'd like to see them limiting capacity again and making people queue outside distanced out.

Re: Covid: Morrisons and Sainsbury's ban maskless shoppers
Our Sainsbury slashed the capacity limit back to April levels last Monday so it was much quieter inside but we had to queue for about 250 metres (took maybe half an hour to get in).Digby Chicken Caesar wrote: ↑Tue Jan 12, 2021 9:22 am I'd like to see them limiting capacity again and making people queue outside distanced out.

I think the supermarkets could get around the "I'm exempt" crowd by saying "of course we understand that some might be medically exempt, so they can come in early morning only on Monday and Thursday, at all other times it's 100% masks only"

Ooh. I wonder who ClockworkO is?
Not sure when this mask ban is meant to be coming in but I can tell you the security at Morrisons in Chingford last night were turning Nelsonian eyes to quite a few maskless shoppers.

I am a long-time lurker who decided, maybe against my better judgement, to register.

This. There are enough alternatives to masks now not to have to put up with excuses.
My wife has been a chronic asthmatic virtually all of her life and can wear a mask long enough to comfortably complete a shop.
I’m sure that there are people with issues such as COPD that would struggle but there are too many people finding an excuse because they can’t be bothered.

Yep, absolutely. If people are going to be arses and not bother with face coverings or distancing inside then reduce the max capacity and make people queue to get in when that is exceeded.Digby Chicken Caesar wrote: ↑Tue Jan 12, 2021 9:22 am I'd like to see them limiting capacity again and making people queue outside distanced out.

Certainly was against your better judgement. If I was you, I'd decide which username you want to keep. You have until 5.30pm today to decide.ClockworkO wrote: ↑Tue Jan 12, 2021 10:17 amI am a long-time lurker who decided, maybe against my better judgement, to register.

Yep we've noticed that to and have stopped shopping there.
You go to the one in Loughton and the people on the doors are all over you.
We're lucky to have the online shop booked for the next couple of Saturdays

Re: Covid: Morrisons and Sainsbury's ban maskless shoppers
I went shopping at my local Tesco's Supermarket last night. They shut at midnight so I went at 11 pm and wore a mask and a face shield.
It was good, only a few cars in the car park, spot the shopper ( saw 3 apart from myself ) plenty of everything, main people in the store were the workers stocking the shelves, so until and if things change, that will be my shopping place and time of shopping !

Re: Covid: Morrisons and Sainsbury's ban maskless shoppers
Very good idea but will the government and supermarkets have the guts to enforce such a thing ?StillSpike wrote: ↑Tue Jan 12, 2021 9:43 amOur Sainsbury slashed the capacity limit back to April levels last Monday so it was much quieter inside but we had to queue for about 250 metres (took maybe half an hour to get in).Digby Chicken Caesar wrote: ↑Tue Jan 12, 2021 9:22 am I'd like to see them limiting capacity again and making people queue outside distanced out.

My lady friend also suffers from very bad asthma attacks but always wears the mask when out shopping and walking in the street areas around the shopping areas,Ornchurch wrote: ↑Tue Jan 12, 2021 10:35 amThis. There are enough alternatives to masks now not to have to put up with excuses.
