Can someone remind about Paul Mays dad and Paul Mays dog please? I've forgotten what attributes they both had.

I miss the old 'OR-IE-NT (clap clap clap') chant: - that would always spring up from somewhere in the wooden floored part of the East Stand whenever we got a corner, with a real thump on the floor for the clapping bits.

It's also been a while since I heard the Orient version of 'Here We Go' either:

Definitely gets an airing every now and then still. One of my favourites.

From yesteryear in the days of wooden rattles when opposing fans stood alongside each other with no abuse we would chant...2-4-6-8 who do we appreciate. L.E.Y.T.O.N. O.R.I.E.N.T. LEYTON ORIENT.
On a similar vein as to how hooliganism has invaded sport , boxing matches between fighters from rival cities often deteriorate into crowd brawls. By contrast there was a title fight at white city in I believe the late 30’s or 40’s where the 2 boxers were giving their all and the crowd started singing “for they are jolly good fellows”. I might add I wasn’t around at the time but have seen film of it.

I remember there was a different version you sang to opponents and being the only O in school I used to sing it to Spuds fans they would go ape sh*t at me. Bunch of cry babies they were.

From the West Side, circa late 60's - sung when the old plod intervened to the tune of Camptown races

Who's that fella with the helmet on
Dixon, Dixon
Who's that fella with the helmet on, Dixon of Dock Green
On the beat all day, on the wife all night
Who's that fella with the helmet on Dixon of Dock Green

Fondly remember that you did an arm pump when on the wife all night part was sung !

On the supporters club train up to a cup match at Newcastle Dave Dodds went to the toilet.

The song was:-
Dave’s gone to the toilet,
Dave’s gone to the toilet,
Na nr na na, na nr na na.
He’s gone to do a wee wee,
He’s gone to do a wee wee,
na nr na na, na nr na na.

As a 12 year old this was the funniest thing I had ever heard

On the same Newcastle trip they had an advert in the ground which said “Kestral lager bits”

The song went:-
Kestral lager bites, Kestral lager bites,
Then bite it back, then bite it back,
Iv never been bit by a Kestral,
Iv never bee but by a Kestral
na nr na na, na nr na na
