It's gotta be Jacob Rees-Mogg, him & his nanny would slaughter the rest of the World. He is so polite, you just don't realise what a toad he is. Johnny Foreigner really goes for that sort of thing. Believe me, when I worked for BT International, the politer the guy on the other end of the phone, you know you would get the least amount of co-operation. Especially true of 3rd World Countries. He would go down a storm on the World stage.

Hunt can’t be trusted, the mans a remainer to boot so he can go do one.
Gove is I believe the smartest of them all, but he proper did bojo in last time so he can’t be trusted
Stewart is someone to watch out for, I think it’s come too early this time and as a remainer won’t get the job, but he’s a potential pm next time round.
Javid is not smart enough, struggles to make his points clearly and is a remainer, so no chance for him either.
Raab intrigues me, seems smart and on the button, would like to see more of him to see if he has world stage credentials, I think he let himself down by being mays poodle.

Re: Who would YOU choose as Tory leader?
Stewart comes across to me as a ''Hand Wringing'' Liberal. Also like Gove, has an ''Image'' problem in that he does not come across as the strong and assertive leader type that is liked by the Conservative grass roots. Johnson can only be stopped by his fellow Tory MPs, if he survives to the final two, then feel sure that he will be chosen as the next Leader.Thor wrote: ↑Wed May 29, 2019 11:35 am Hunt can’t be trusted, the mans a remainer to boot so he can go do one.

Re: Who would YOU choose as Tory leader?
Would be Sajid Javid for me.
Dragged himself all the way up from Rochdale, where his Dad was a bus-driver, to be MD of Deutsche Bank, before politics, so clearly got a lot about him, and you would hope can identify with the common man.
As others have said though, he won't get it due to his ethnic background, as the Tories need to rely on the gammon vote too much.
Compare that to Labour, where Abbott only got her post (seemingly) because she is black. A white woman with her meagre 'skill-set' would never have been appointed into that role.
A modern juxtaposition if ever there was one..

Re: Who would YOU choose as Tory leader?
Stewart seems a very reasonable fair man, calm and measured, and not a chest beating right winger, so he would be my choice, though I doubt he will get further than the final 6or7

Exactly cos she is not in the role on merit or skill sets. She is an embarrassment.spen666 wrote: ↑Wed May 29, 2019 1:29 pmI thought it was because she was sh*gging Jeremy CorbynScuba Diver wrote: ↑Wed May 29, 2019 1:24 pm ....

That's quite a surprise. Now I know why one of my least favoured candidates is the favourite choice on this board.ComeOnYouOs wrote: ↑Wed May 29, 2019 1:36 pm Stewart seems a very reasonable fair man, calm and measured, and not a chest beating right winger, so he would be my choice, though I doubt he will get further than the final 6or7

Yes, I'm sure an ex MD of Deutsche Bank is very in touch with the ordinary man.Scuba Diver wrote: ↑Wed May 29, 2019 1:24 pm Would be Sajid Javid for me.

Re: Who would YOU choose as Tory leader?
You like Stewart so much, in actual fact might be a good move to persuade him to move over to Labour and replace Corbyn, then you are home and dry for the next election !!ComeOnYouOs wrote: ↑Wed May 29, 2019 1:36 pm Stewart seems a very reasonable fair man, calm and measured, and not a chest beating right winger, so he would be my choice, though I doubt he will get further than the final 6or7

Re: Who would YOU choose as Tory leader?
Agreed. He has the mass appeal of a Michael Foot, Neil Kinnock, IDS or Hague.Chief crazy horse wrote: ↑Wed May 29, 2019 10:12 am Gove seems a nice enough guy, honest and intelligent, but can you imagine him on the world stage as our leader? In the nicest possible way I have to say, he looks a bit of a plonker..
