Nige has become rather sentimentally attached to the idea that the Club can succeed under the management of a Club legend, and his young protege, who was also a boyhood fan (Chelsea family and shorts notwithstanding).
It’s a nice idea, but I don’t think it’s going to work out.
I very much doubt Nigel is that naive.
I know the h8rz like to make out the board to be all sweet and cuddly, but they've already shown they have the balls to make tough decisions. It'd have been easier to give Fletcher 6 more games and wait and see what happened, sacking him when they did took serious bottle. They got rid of Davis after like 15 games too. It's very much 'if you don't do the business you're out' here and it'll be the same for Boss - it's just way too soon atm
It didn't take bottle to sack Fletcher, they had no choice in the matter given the mutinous mood amongst the staff at the time.
You're right in one respect though - there are other factors behind Travis' attachment to Ling, having invested in him so much in the past year. And he's very loyal to people who work for him. It's more than just sentimentality - although that sentimentality might explain some of the difference in opinion between him and Teague, who doesn't have the same baggage.
I’m not so sure Otinbo, Travis is a hire and fire person as that’s the culture he’s worked in for many many years.
I’d argue that ling still has a positive tick against his name if you balance it out over his tenure as a dof. There’s more positives than negatives in my opinion, but he’s got some work to do right now to get us moving forwards and upwards.

What is this difference in opinion between Travis and Teague you keep hinting at?
