Thomas
What's happened to our only hope at RB? No sign of him and not even mentioned when Dave Victor asks Embleton about injuries in his interview

Re: Thomas
Same thing happened with that kid from palace the other year, 5 mins at the end of a game and never seen again. The kid from Spurs last year too.

Re: Thomas
When this lads signing was announced, as usual on this forum there was ''literally dancing in the street'' at the announcement !!
As usual I said ''lets wait and see him play'' before too much tub thumping. Well still too early to say one way or the other, he looked a bit lightweight to me in the couple of games when he played and he has not played since the covid virus that hit the club. If he was one of those that were affected, then perhaps we shall see him again in not too short a time, hope so. When and if that happens, then a better judgment can be made as to if he can challenge for the right back slot, we certainly need someone up to scratch there.

People were excited because he’s a right back. Nothing to do with his quality.Sid Bishop wrote: ↑Sat Oct 17, 2020 9:29 pmWhen this lads signing was announced, as usual on this forum there was ''literally dancing in the street'' at the announcement !!

Re: Thomas
Well seeing as Travis says the club tells fans everything would be nice for them to mention the player. If he's ill fans would wish him all the best for recovery, what's the secret there?

I beg to differ, many on this forum were ''Bigging him up'' before he had even kicked a football for us and getting over excited at the thought of Sam Ling being replaced by him. This all at the loan signing of a young lad who's playing experience has in the main been at under 23s level. He may come good, he may may not, but like it or not, he is not so far a proven quality right back of league 2 or above level. This season , while on loan to the Os he will have a chance to see if he can make the big jump to senior pro football, time will tell.

Re: Thomas
The same with all these loan signings from Premier League teams. They're nowhere near first team football.
Unless you get really really lucky.
Look at Akinola. He's the same age as Happe and there were comments on here the other night of not throwing Akinola in at the deep end. Happe has played over a 100 games, Akinola has now played 2.
The same with the right back (who's name I've forgotten) and Ling / Judd. They might be from better teams but they aren't necessarily better players.

Look at Akinola. He's the same age as Happe and there were comments on here the other night of not throwing Akinola in at the deep end. Happe has played over a 100 games, Akinola has now played 2.

Very true. Took a while for the young spurs player we had last season to adapt, not outstanding but he did ok in the endTent Keague wrote: ↑Sat Oct 17, 2020 9:49 pm The same with all these loan signings from Premier League teams. They're nowhere near first team football.

If you had to pick between Happe and akinola right now, there’s no contest. One is a man, one is still a boy.

Dan Happe, born 28 September 1998 (age 22 years), Tunji Akinola, born 21 November 1998 (age 21 years)Ronnie Hotdogs wrote: ↑Sat Oct 17, 2020 9:57 pmThis.Tent Keague wrote: ↑Sat Oct 17, 2020 9:49 pm The same with all these loan signings from Premier League teams. So barely 2 months difference in age but a vast difference in experience between the two on the football pitch were it matters.

Ross said in a post game interview the other week that Thomas and Turley suffered the worst from Covid, I can only assume Thomas is still working his way back.

Re: Thomas
The problem is teams must be thinking why send players on loan to us
Marsh had to wait ages then played half the season at rb, when he could play there but is a cm/dm
Thomas appears to be MIA
Akinola has played right back, when really he is a CB
Why would anyone send us players

Re: Thomas
Marsh played a lot of games though, that's all they'd want I think. Thomas seems to have had a real struggle with Covid but hasn't been here long, Akinola is playing games.
I really dislike an U23 signing though. They are just never conditioned for it. I'd much prefer those lads to go and play in the Conference or Isthmian for a year and then come to a club like us, but they'd never go for it. We have a pretty decent record, even recently (not FB onwards though) of helping players onto something better.
Harry Kane, Andros Towsend, Tom Carroll, Paul Jose M'Poku, Eric Lichaj, John Lundstram, Charlie Daniels, Eldin Jakupovic, Ryan Hedges, Jack Price, John Marquis, Harry Cornick etc.
And Mark Ellis.
