It’s just as well spectators aren’t allowed in to games, as I can’t believe anyone would pay to watch the crap we’re coming up with. It’s been the same since Edinburgh died.
Spot on, unless the negative, boring style of play changes people will not pay to watch .I have paid to watch a couple of games but won’t be doing it anymore, nobody in their right mind would pay to watch such negative, boring football.
That's the biggest problem with Embleton, no belief in his players to go out on the front foot and attack right from the start and keep doing it. Did he learn nothing from JE where the controlled aggression and fast attacking play made us dangerous and also the kind of side opposition hated playing. Yesterday was so typical of "nice Orient" with half hearted challenges not wanting to get too physical.
The full-back positions are a total farce, at NL level JE brought Turley in as Ling / Judd weren't up to it. What does club do after promotion? Extend Ling's contract. Now we're on the 5th choice RB who also looks a liability there (but seems a solid enough CB so can't be too hard on Akinola)
As for LB we struggled when Widdowson got injured previously so sense would be to get another LB in and improve the position quality and cover wise... nope instead we put our pacy winger there and push a striker out wide.
Sort two positions and it ripples out across the squad where players no longer need to be square pegs in round holes.
Agree with too many of the points already made to repeat them here – particularly the ones on playing in the correct positions and line up/formation, so will just add a few things.
First, Grimsby were harrying and hassling us whenever we had possession – not giving us time to dwell on the ball and too much of our distribution was panicked into making mistakes. Every single pass back to Viggo was chased down by them – even if they stood no chance of actually getting near the ball before it was cleared. We, on the other hand, consistently stood back whenever they had the ball and seemed content to give them as long as they liked to make their passes, hoping that they would either be misplaced or there would be an error.
Second, a number of people have a downer on Craig Clay. I disagree and think that he’s the closest we’ve come to a Vincelot-type figure in CM in a long while (although still miles away). I see him breaking up opposition play effectively and mostly making good passes once he’s got the ball. Some balls go astray but who has a 100% pass accuracy? I don’t think anyone can fault his effort and this is a player who not too long ago was MOTM on many occasions.
And as for Josh Wright, I decided to count the number of sideways or back passes. I got to 11 and just gave up. Either he’s doing what Boss says (in which case Boss needs shooting) or he’s totally ignoring what Boss says in which case Wright needs shooting. Either way, this style of play cannot continue

The noticeable thing fo me was how they broke through our midfield ranks with pace and good passing. Much more mobile than us. I texted my son during the first half and said that we are going to concede a cricket score that's how dangerous I thought Grimsby were at that time and the winner was set up by drive and pace. Midfield will get us relegated
Because they had two guys playing centrally up top.
We only have Johnson in the middle, Wilko and Ruel are wasted out wide. The one time the three of them got close together in the 4th minute, we scored.
