Nigel did`t rule out B-teams.
Don`t like it.
So if 12 teams go.to the wall what do we do then ?
Just have shorter less profitable seasons that will eventually
cost us far more money or keep replacing then with small
Unsupported clubs who struggle from Non League ?
Im not for or against it either .
But we go back to Bilboa Athletic
Barcas B team which i cant remember the name of.
Football and Leyton Orient will be finished to me the second a ‘b’ team player kicks a ball
in anger in English football, It’s quite simple.
Was it you who said you'd be finished if the players kept taking a knee ?
If not my apologies.
Remember in Spain B teams are not entitled to be in the same league as
There A team so promotion would not be given even if they win the League .
Plus its only hypothetical discussions at the moment .
During one of the Q & A last summer, Kent Teague laughed when there was talk of B teams. He said it wasn't even mentioned when the EFL clubs had their talks. I am afraid this might have changed. Maybe Nigel and Kent have different views.
Let me also say that we have B teams in our league structure over here (Norway) and it is a nightmare.

Really good Q&A session. Very honest as ever, we are lucky to have these guys running our club.
Ling looks like he's been ill lost quite a bit of weight by the look of it.
We're extremely lucky to have Nigel and Kent at the helm of the club. I wish Martin Ling and anybody else at the club still with the virus a speedy recovery .

Last summer we had No Covid & fans could go to games.
Before P.B.P &£50 million help a lot of clubs could have been in serious trouble
as was said tax bills p.a.y.e etc & still no income for many.
Again not arguing about it being difficult , but ehat do we do if 10 or 12 go out
of buisness mid season ?
Better to look for solutions than have that surely .
If 12 teams do go to the wall and please God they dont, then i would rather just go three pro leagues than B teams. I lived in Spain and followed a Spanish third division/Preferente team ( non league ).
The B team route will be good for the premier league clubs but bad for EFL football.
Really enjoyed following a spanish team was a member of a supporters club but the whole set up in Spain is corrupt from the very top to the very bottom.
European league football well let our top six have their wish and when it folds after a short period then they can come back through the National league root.
Imagine Orient facing United, City, Arsenal, Spurs,Chelsea and Liverpool for a few seasons in div 2...great revenue for little clubs.

I’d sooner 12 teams don’t go to the wall. That is the priority.
No teams need go to the wall if the government would allow limited numbers of fans to return.
Crazy to think that Yesterday there was a music event allowed at the London Palladium with a large crowd present and another at the Albert Hall where football fans were sat socially distanced listening to Arsene Wenger.
Where is the consistency ??
You said it. ‘Listening to Arsene Wenger’
Not ‘shouting and screaming’ abuse at the Ref , players, Linesmen, singing and chanting.

Nigel spoke well and basically agrees with everything I've said about the proposal. Bow down to me.
Very worrying that Martin Ling thinks we have a good squad and expects them to finish top half. We only have about half the team playing out of position and a bloke who shouldn't be a footballer at right back. Other than that, it's great.
What’s more worrying is if T&T think finishing top half is acceptable when they’re spending as much as they are on our squad.
I don’t believe that’s what Martin is telling them in private.
Some of the stuff I hear from Nigel worries me. Understandable, and as he admitted to, he doesn't want to pour in money to cover losses. And therefore his decisions wont necessarily be about whats best for football, or sometimes even whats best for the club. A few worrying comments. I like him and will be indebted to him forever but there's some signs he's willing to sell a lot away to recoup his losses (which i get).
Nigel is just a fan who’s throwing a shed load more money into the club than us normal fans. Of course he’d love success and to climb a division or two, but as long as his football club is still in existence and he’s not laying out stupid amounts that he can’t afford, he’s accepting of the situation. I get that.
Not sure that Teague and the other mystery investors will be of the same mind.
Can't see a situation where EFL clubs vote to allow B teams. It'd be about as short termist as it gets, it'd kill the lower leagues over night. Think the bigger worry is established professional clubs becoming proxies for bigger clubs to develop players. Saw the beginning of that in the Big Picture proposals. Having 1 or 2 Spurs players on loan each season is fine, it becomes a joke if its 4-5 starting players in a team.

Indeed. And they are much less likely to be indulgent of the inadequates we have in charge of the football side.

Not going to happen.
I know that Sid but i'm fed up with the selfish greed of these top clubs and would just love to see them experience the hardships of working at ground level.

If only he was as sentimental about preserving the broken model of English football as he is about preserving the broken model of Orient football.

To move
" BROKEN FOOTBALL FORWARD ".
Tuf just seen this. My views on taking the knee are, if people want to do it that's up to them but I don't think politics & sport is ever a good mix and never will it be. It doesn't bother me about the 'knee' and it certainly wouldnt stop me from going. Whereas the introduction of B teams certainly would..
I used to be in the minority of people who really enjoyed the football league trophy before the intro of u23 teams into that. The cup run to Southend in 12, the cup run to Birmingham going further back to 93. Haven't set foot in the ground for FLT game since u23's. Wouldn't even go if we got to Wembley (but hey its Wembley so we'd lose anyway)

I don’t know much about his personal finances but there is probably a limit to his ability to fund Orient Losses before it starts to impact on his family and other business commitments. He is doing so much to keep us alive, but it must have its limits. And I suspect this season those limits are being reached. So I can fully understand if he is supporting actions that personally help him. Why not. He’s done enough. More than enough.
NT & KT are no doubt well off but they are not billionaires. I suspect that if this carried on next season us and other clubs would be in serious trouble. We have fantastic owners

I get that comment but if we're at the point where the losses are too much they have to take a harsher look at the club's expenditure before selling away the future of the game in exchange for a short-term cash injection.
At Orient that's the DOF role, academy (money pit) and number of non-playing staff. Also a problem is the ever-increasing Hearn rent coupled with still paying stadium repair bills. That's a real can of worms and could be a thread in itself...
If Travis takes the view of being happy to allow B teams into pro football in order to protect the Orient academy he's got his priorities wrong imo.
Perhaps these so called supporters wanting the club to simply buy more and more players when we are losing £4m this year will put their hand in their pockets and find some money.
We have owners who have run multi billion dollar companies but some LO supporters who can't even balance their own checkbooks want to tell them how to run a business.

Oh well ...
Question is why are we losing so much even without Covid? Macklin is bringing in loads of revenue and our squad isn't huge.
If push comes to shove when do you draw the line under nice to haves like the academy, extended coaching setup etc. and focus on just the core business running as lean as possible?
Judging by some of what he's said recently Travis seems to want to go the other way and spend even more money on the academy which by his own admission is a struggle to even get to cost-neutral. He's talking about sustainable clubs but is our own model in that bracket?
