Parking near Brisbane Road

Post by Oiram »

Just when you think it cannot get any worse this season, as from 26th October, free parking near the ground will cease. A new CPZ is being introduced daily 8am up until 6.30PM including Saturdays.

Does anybody have a link to proposals / maps please?

I used to park by the old County Ground till rules came in and I want to establish if my new hideaway is now to be included.
Another nail in the coffin for our crowd numbers and the £££ we bring to the High Road every two weeks 😡😡😡

And my car will be up for extra charges when the ULEZ expands next October out to the North Circular... another tax every time I visit my 95 yo mother 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
(And, no, public transport is not a realistic option.)

Not only is this an issue for the club - but it will then force more people onto public transport so increasing the covid risk. Whilst it was probably inevitable, the timing is madness.

Understand that of course, my post was tongue in cheek meaning we're very unlikely to return to Brissie in the near future....

Thing is, I am reasonably local, Woodford and sometimes drive or get train. Now one will have to plan ahead. I feel sorry for the people who drive in from miles out, Suffolk and Norfolk are places where I know certain fans do.

Could do what West Ham fans do. Park in our street and get the tube a couple of stops. Or walk from there. Also there is the is the ASDA car park where you get three hours. Arrive at 2.30pm, leave by 5.30pm.

Unless I'm reading it wrong, most of the parking restrictions appear Mon-Fri only close to the ground. Clearly it's still going to be an absoulte pig for anyone who needs to visit during the week but the O's shouldn't be too badly affected.

Sorry, that's not what it says on the map you posted as far as I can tell. The map is dated 2018 so is this perhaps not showing the new restrictions?

Just another reason why BR isn't a viable location for Orient in the long-term imo. The Spitalfields parking was perfect until City of London vetoed it for no logical reason whatsoever.

Seems Covid is being tied in with the "sustainability" agenda as a further war on driving. Heard recently Redbridge is going the same way as Waltham Forest with insane plans blocking off side roads that's already lead to deaths from increased accidents on the choked up main roads. Appalling.

I'm coming in from just outside Sevenoaks. 90 minutes door to door on public transport. I'd probably pay the cost just for the convenience.

As I’m reading it, this impacts the LNN zone as per the link to the map provided in the stream, and that would take in the Warren Road/ Grove Green Road area where I usually park (Warren Avenue is my first choice), so will be a nuisance, but I’ve parked beyond the Northcote before now and I’m reading that would still be available as it’s a different zone.

Not everyone travels by car. Chelsea and Arsenal manage with zero free parking in the vicinity. If Orient ever do move they will need to have a railway station nearby.

Parking restrictions are everywhere now. Next week we get Mon-Fri 9am - 6.30pm even though everyone parks their car(s) on their drives and there is no need for it. Will mostly annoy the golfers who can only park on the street for a maximum of three hours.

Should Orient move out of east London, it's likely I would never go as I don't have a car. And I can't imagine Mrs. RientO giving me a lift in hers when there are shops open...

Shame people In authority don’t see just how important Orient is to the community and introduce exceptions for match days.

I gave up driving over 2 hours each way several years ago. Long, painful journey. Uncertainty over traffic. Now rely on the train and Shanks Pony.

This contradicts your recent post in the other thread somewhat. I suspect the local community which don't support Orient would rather have a parking space on a match day.

Anyway, should still be OK to park for evening games.

Sorry, my attempt at ironic sarcasm was pretty poor. Just trying to emphasise how of little importance we are. We don’t matter to the community. I reckon many matchday spectators don’t even live in the community.

Unless I am sorely mistaken the GGW area, stretching towards the ground from Warren Road is unaffected.
Whoopee, I can still take my 95 year old Dad, who lives in Huxley Road, his Saturday pie, mash and likker without fear of prosecution, fines etc.
It also means that I can then park much nearer to the Northcote for my traditional pre - match libation with my group of six friends.

All we need is for Biris to allow us back into the ground....
