I’m think I’m correct in that Murdoch doesn’t own the Sky channel in the UK . It was something to do with the Monopoly laws . Every time I watch Sky News they come across as biased as the left leaning BBC

Dunners posted this a while ago and I think it's a pretty good breakdown. Most on the left think the BBC are on the right*, and most on the right think they are on the left. Which, really, shows them as doing a pretty good job. Please have a read of the below;

The BBC isn't 'left wing'. It's ' socially liberal'. Stop confusing those two concepts. I understand why people do it, but the two are entirely separate political positions. Extreme liberalism (let's call it wokeness) is increasingly adopted by people who like to think of themselves as 'left', but would sh*t their pants should they ever be confronted with genuine left economic policies. It's easier to argue over the minutiae of niche sensitivities and micro-aggressions than confront their own privileged middle-class backgrounds.

Sure, you can be a left-wing liberal, but that is not a position held by the BBC. It is a pro-establishment, socially liberal institution. It praises at the alter of Saint Greta whilst also kissing the arse of the Queen. The Guardian is similar, but slightly less pro-establishment. And The Mirror is even more irrelevant.

The mainstream media (including the so-called left-wing papers and BBC) is overwhelming biased towards the economic right. The only split is whether they are socially right or left. What isn't represented is economic left/socially right. And yet that's the constituency that the Tories tapped into to win their majority, and which Labour continues to ignore (or be terrified of).

*Tim Davie Director General being a former Tory candidate, Andrew Neil being Chairman of The Spectator, Nick Robinson being President of the Oxford Uni Conservative Association, Robbie Gibb (brother of Tory MP) running live political programming for a decade then becoming Theresa May's Comms Guru etc. There are more. And plenty of left examples too. The 'left wing' bias thing is just wrong.

I dont think the media is a left or right issue whether thats BBC, Sky, Newspapers, Radio or any other outlet. The way of the media in todays world is to create and spread negativety from whatever angle they can. We all know the corona virus has been devastating for the world and it's hard to report any good news. They seem to thrive on everything bad and repeat the same headlines 24/7 whatever the subject. If they come accross anything thats good they will dig and in some cases create a negative whether thats against a person, organisation, government or anything accross the world.
For the past month or so i have been avoiding reading newspapers or watching tv news as they have a way of controlling society and i found it all really depressing.
I am not expressing any political favour because whatever party was in power if they were centre, left or right leaning the media would make it thier priority to attack them at every opportunity which creates division in society.

One point out of many made. But here goes anyway.

We are testing more people for covid than every major nation, yet the news slags off the government for not testing enough.

The positive is we are testing more people than anyone else. The negative is it could always be more, yet the news only focuses on the fact we need to test more forgetting the positive part of the equation.

Tuffers i would imagine the first sniff of anything negative on 100 year old Tom and they will be on it like a pack of blood-hounds. In fact i remember someone on here about two months ago mentioning a article about Tom and his family which was not very complimentary.
Also i am sure on many occassions you and others have commented on how the media treated Jeremy Corbyn which you may well have been right about regards mis-representation, unfair journalism which suited thier agenda and narrative. Boris probably gets the same on some occassions but let's not go there.
Media seem to create and dictate how governments should act, quite often i would imagine with made up versions and journalist, newscasters and presenters acting like judge and jury instead of sticking to the facts.
If you like how things are that's fine but my lifes more important to me than being preached to on how we should live by a bunch of jumped up vastly overpaid hypocrites.
