No pro background apart from working his whole life in football.
Ada's got to be in with a shot if Ross finishes. Been loyal to the club and working as a pro at Orient for about 20 years.

I've got a mate who's worked at Gatwick Airport for around 20 years.

I don't think he can fly a plane though.

Sigh.

Are you seriously asking if a man who worked his whole life in football coaching is qualified to become a head coach?

But one of the criticisms of Ross is that he hasn't played at a high level (people claiming being a pro footballer IS relevant).

So why is being a pro coach (albeit not a head coach) for 20 years also not relevant experience?

He can't win really, can he?

His record to date as Manager is Played 42: Won:12 Drew:12 Lost:18

That's pretty 'mediocre' at best.

However, apart from the occasional season (during the 48 years that I've supported Orient), I suppose we've just learnt to live and accept mediocrity as a way of life at Brisbane Road.

Nuneaton- Yes, but those games were during a period of turmoil for the club, in a new division.

Wait till he has lost a few games, then go for it. Until then, you just show the rest of us that you are 'moaners'.
Haven’t lost a league game yet? A manager’s career stats don’t get wiped at the end of every season. Everything that people are saying now has been levelled for the past year. I feel sorry for the bloke, he’s clearly a good coach and is better suited as a number 2. It’s a shame he’s been thrown under the bus to protect Ling.
Last season was a nightmare. Justin's passing had a dramatic effect on morale and temperament for quite a while. Some players have spoken about this. The players were very close to him and every day at work was a reminder that he had died. This death was not the same as a close family member passing where work can take your mind of things. Quite the reverse. I am not saying that Embleton's record should be expunged, just that there were very unusual extenuating circumstances.

i'm on the fence with Ross.

But will say there's plenty of good managers who didn't have great playing careers.

Like Ferguson and Wenger, not every manager is Guardialoa or Zidane.

So personally think that theory is cobblers.

Whether he inspires people or not is another thing.

Carlos Alberto Parreira

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carlos_Alberto_Parreira

World cup winner who never played Football

Think he had a mate who worked at an airport who flew planes as well.

He also knew that referees could wear trainers on pitches in hot countries
As they didnt need to play football at a high level as Refs arent playing the
game they are Refereeing it . ( that was for Thory , CL thread) .

Theres a fair amount more who have won lots who havent played the game .

I mean, ive never been to catering college but i know how to make a
Decent fry up
😁

Danny Cowley hasn't had a bad football managers record so far as I can see.
He did good with Braintree & when he left there they nose dived.
He took Lincoln from the NL to L1 in only 3 seasons.
Then he kept Huddersfield in the championship after they were heading for L1.
The only reason he got sacked was because yet another No Nothing control freak of a chairman wanted to buy who he wanted & not the manager & coach who has to train & play them.
There's to many make out Ambamovich's out there now as we well know.
That's a good record to most & you wouldn't say No if you had the option to swap Embleton with Cowley would you?
Cowley & his brother will be snapped up soon & they both will do well AGAIN.

The two Cowley brothers were both P.E teachers at Fitzwimarc school in Rayleigh & when they were there the school football teams records were impressive.
Then they did really well at different non - league teams aswell & I think Concorde did well when they managed them.
I would have them both here tomorrow but Ross deserves a chance this season with no hang over to what unfortunately happened to Justin, his own tactics, no break with a new manager (CF) & see where we are at the end of the season.
I am sure with what Kent Teague said last season " the results aren't good enough " Ross won't get an easy ride & he will have to produce.
And at the end of the season his contact will be virtually up anyway.
Let's just all be positive & hope he does well.
All of us I hope want our club to do well.

Mourinho had no pro background he has done OK.
Wenger never played at a high level he did ok.

That's fine and agree it played somewhat of a role but it doesn't explain the ins and outs and the whole reason for why last season was so sh*t.

I agree it's not a pre-requisite but both of those played professional football.
