Many of those contracts and arrangements are now already in place and as for the scouting network, the academy etc, already being looked after by those individuals who are responsible for them. Setting up a framework was Lings job at the start, that job is now now done. The mass signing up of players is now done, how many new players contracts to negotiate this year, few I would guess ?DuvB wrote: ↑Sat Aug 08, 2020 10:47 amSo if Ling’s role was made redundant, who would deal with the contracts, the players agents, the scouting network, the academy etc, etc? Come on Sid, no need for insults.
If you really don’t respect Long’s contributions, time to say it and stop criticising those with the sense to have called it from day 1.
I have a balanced view on all things in life. I do not think that Embleton is any way the right person to be Manager of Leyton Orient and have said so many times. IMO, Ling ( as I have also stated many times ) initially did a good job in quickly getting players, manager and staff in when we had only a few kids on the books to represent us but now the club has stabilized and with the personal that is already in place now at the club, I feel that his job role is no longer required and it is time for him to move on.

If only we could look at the DOF job description. I bet you would see a lot more responsibilities than we have mentioned. So, we can agree to disagree.Sid Bishop wrote: ↑Sat Aug 08, 2020 12:24 pmMany of those contracts and arrangements are now already in place and as for the scouting network, the academy etc, already being looked after by those individuals who are responsible for them. Re: Matt Harrold
There is now a multitude of competent people at the club, be it on the office /administration side, coaching, scouting network, the academy etc who I would have thought would be very able to undertake the duties that are currently assigned to Martin Ling. I saw similar at the large multi national drug company that I worked at, When a drug had to be withdrawn ( that was made in America ) and the company got into difficulties due to law suits ( which never came to as much as had been expected ) the firm were forced into making voluntary redundancies and many supposedly indispensable people left the firm. Funny thing was, life carried on much the same and same amount of drugs were manufactured, but with one third less work force on the ground and around half the office staff, made me wonder as to just how necessary the people who's jobs were no longer required, had been all along ? We had obviously been over staffed but the firm had just turned a blind eye to it.DuvB wrote: ↑Sat Aug 08, 2020 12:32 pmIf only we could look at the DOF job description. About Long?PoliticOs wrote: ↑Sat Aug 08, 2020 11:08 amWould it not be fair to argue that if you called it from day one you've maybe got some negative bias if you thought it right from the very beginning?Disoriented wrote: ↑Sat Aug 08, 2020 6:58 amCome on Sid, no need for insults.Sid Bishop wrote: ↑Sat Aug 08, 2020 6:55 am
Silly comment, look to Tuffers if you want a cheer leader for Ling and Embleton.
I am not the biggest fan of Ling and definitely not a Cheer leader for Embleton and have stated that opinion many times on this forum.

Re: Matt Harrold
I'm assuming you meant Ling both times (or I'm missing the joke!) but yes, Martin Ling. If you had him clocked as no good from day one does that not make your opinion a bit of a self fulfilling prophecy?
You seem to be disappointed when people call you out on this and a little defensive, if you don't mind me saying, and I often think that's a good indicator that an opinion might be a little heavy loaded one way.
