Re: Danny webb
He got fired because firstly he had a fight with Carl Fletcher because Fletcher said he didn't need him anymore with the first team & demoted him to the youngsters so he obviously wasn't happy about that, so he must of got a written warning.
Secondly it was reported that during HT at one of our home games he & Ross had an argument about tactics ( I can see that) in front of all the players AND Ling ( what was Ling doing in the changing room at HT?) And Ling then grassed him up to Kent Teague after the game.
Then they put him on gardening leave before finally sacking him.
Two strikes & your out.
He's at Romford or Hornchurch with Tamlin.
Good luck to him as he think he would of made a better coach than Embleton & he actually stood up to Benshitti.

Not surprised that he went then; that sort of insubordination shouldn't be tolerated. Hardly think it's a case of Ling "grassing him up", clearly there is a chain of command in place.

If this is true....and it sounds very plausible to me, then Dannys had a terrible deal at Orient.North Stand Dave wrote: ↑Fri Aug 07, 2020 10:27 am He got fired because firstly he had a fight with Carl Fletcher because Fletcher said he didn't need him anymore with the first team & demoted him to the youngsters so he obviously wasn't happy about that, so he must of got a written warning.

First, IMO Danny would have been a better head coach than Ross, all day long.....the fact that Ross is Lings pet poodle meant Danny was never going to get the head coach gig.
without knowing what the argument at half time was about.......surely the assistant head coach is allowed to put his ten penceworth in?
And as for snitch Ling.....is there nothing he wont do to defend Ross?
Good luck to Danny, he's better than Romford fc IMO, and was treated shabbily here

Probably slightly bitter that Embleton got the top job and he didn't. Shame he couldnt have held his tongue......Smendrick Feaselberg wrote: ↑Fri Aug 07, 2020 10:31 am Not surprised that he went then; that sort of insubordination shouldn't be tolerated. Re: Danny webb
Why, because he was removed from his position after two incidents of insubordination? I mean, I'm no fan of Embleton at all and would have preferred Webb as head coach too, but you seem unable to think with a clear head and always let your biases get in the way.ComeOnYouOs wrote: ↑Fri Aug 07, 2020 10:37 amIf this is true....and it sounds very plausible to me, then Dannys had a terrible deal at Orient.North Stand Dave wrote: ↑Fri Aug 07, 2020 10:27 am He got fired because firstly he had a fight with Carl Fletcher because Fletcher said he didn't need him anymore with the first team & demoted him to the youngsters so he obviously wasn't happy about that, so he must of got a written warning.

You let your bias get the better of you, COYOS! If it's all 'very plausible' then maybe fighting your boss and inappropriately arguing with another isn't the signs of the best professional in the world?ComeOnYouOs wrote: ↑Fri Aug 07, 2020 10:37 amIf this is true....and it sounds very plausible to me, then Dannys had a terrible deal at Orient.North Stand Dave wrote: ↑Fri Aug 07, 2020 10:27 am He got fired because firstly he had a fight with Carl Fletcher because Fletcher said he didn't need him anymore with the first team & demoted him to the youngsters so he obviously wasn't happy about that, so he must of got a written warning.

'Pet poodle', 'snitch', 'is there anything he won't do to defend Ross' - I think you could have some good points but when you're talking like this you're just showing how like you accuse Ling of just doing anything for Embleton, you'll moan at anything involving the two. Not even having a pop at you, I just think it seeps out of you so obviously that it sort of diminishes the good points you might have. Biggsy has the same issue here.

Re: Danny webb
Having been in charge under Beelzebub I think Danny wanted the chance to be head coach when Embleton decided he wasn't a manager, and tbf he would have been a decent choice but he was by-passed for Fletcher.Smendrick Feaselberg wrote: ↑Fri Aug 07, 2020 10:31 am Not surprised that he went then; that sort of insubordination shouldn't be tolerated. There was a bit more to the row with Embleton, Matt Harrold was involved and I was told it almost came to blows, no choice other than for Danny to go, Danny is a good coach and a nice bloke he will go on to manage in the FL one day but he let his frustration and emotions get the better of him and it cost him.

Except the argument was initially between Harrold and Webb. So if we accept your logic, then Harrold was out of order and should have been disciplined.Smendrick Feaselberg wrote: ↑Fri Aug 07, 2020 10:47 amWhy, because he was removed from his position after two incidents of insubordination? "Snitch Ling"If anyone on here (who was already on a warning or not) had an argument with their boss in front of the rest of the team then do you honestly think it would be swept under the carpet and not communicated upwards in way at all?
NB - Embleton isn't getting mentioned in any of this, as he was quiet as a church mouse throughout the row.

Re: Danny webb
Webb was a hothead and didn't help his own cause. But we can see how he fell out of favour after Edinburgh died and Ling started to re-assert his authority, passing Webb over twice for a crack at a job that he'd already done here creditably. So I sympathise with how he felt.

Re: Danny webb
Depending on the extent to which he was involved then yes. But the fact that action was taking against Webb but we didnt hear anything about Harrold suggests either there was action taken behind closed doors or it's wasn't Harrold who was in the wrong.OyinbO wrote: ↑Fri Aug 07, 2020 10:49 amExcept the argument was initially between Harrold and Webb. Always thought Webby was his own man which is what is needed. Will never forget that comeback win at Plymouth when he was in charge...

Re: Danny webb
No, he probably shouldn't have been there. But I'm sure there can be a myriad of reasons why he may have been. But again we're talking about Webb allegedly doing wrong and somehow, like absolutely everything here, it's on Martin Ling. It's just so weird.

Danny webb Orient managerial record
Leyton Orient 29 January 2017 -
30 March 2017
P 12 W 2 D 1 L 9 average 16.7 .
If this is creditable,
I'm the King of England .

I think he had rather less favourable circumstances to work in than Embleton has had. But you knew that already.

Re: Danny webb
Irrelevant .
JE passing away
Ross having to replace his Friend & Bosses big shoes
which he really wasnt expecting to have to do .
A whole club in shock & dealing with grief for months
With other clubs wanting to honour JE
Fans abusing you , for stepping in, then stepping out.
A complete disaster of a loan manager .
Back in charge keeps us up & safe reasonably easily.
Hardly ideal circumstances for a 1st top job in football
But you knew that already.

Re: Danny webb
In isolation those figures are not good, but you have to look at the bigger picture and you know what was going on with Beelzebub at that time.
Webb galvanised the kids and had them playing OK only to be let down by the senior pros not wanting to play. When Webb got the senior guys onboard and willing to play he selected them and there was more than one occasion that he submitted the team to Beelzebub on a Friday after training (as all Orient managers were instructed to do) only for him to be told 90 minutes. Before the game that so and so wasn't to play today and it was always the senior players.
He was the only manager we had in that era with the balls to go into the boardroom and tell them what was needed. No one was ever going to win with Beelzebub but Webb tried and got the kids doing OK under the circumstances.

Re: Danny webb
Yep. There seems to be a blame culture on here with lots of people wanting to apportion blame for anything happening that they don't like. All it takes is someone to claim something about Ling, no matter how spurious, and others treat it as gospel truth, pile in and add it to their grudge.
As far as not being in the dressing room...he's the director of football so it's not exactly outrageous that he was in there...if he was that is.

Record was marginally better than that of Omer Riza .
Hardly anything special to be honest.
