Next season finish
Given the large number of variables, I would be happy with a middle table finish this coming season. During this period we would be able to plan for the many older players coming to the end of contracts that won’t be renewed, the financial situation would have become clearer and we can have a significant refresh.

Re: Next season finish
I think that, with a number of other clubs in even more financial distress than we are, our relative position should be much improved. But Ling & Embleton in charge will continue to act as a drag on our performance, so your prediction will likely be true - though I wouldn't be happy with it, personally.

Re: Next season finish
Hard to predict at the moment with all the player movements happening but if pushed i would say lower half. Too much weakeness in certain positions and not enough dynamism. That could all change.

Re: Next season finish
I'd be happy for mid-table obscurity as per this season. Unfortunately if we don't improve the current squad it'll be looking over our shoulders and hoping there's another Bury & Stevenage to fill the relegation spots.

Re: Next season finish
As alluded to above, given the current uncertainty around start dates/ finances / player ins & outs etc, etc it’s only really possible to give a gut reaction. Personally , bearing in mind the existing squad, I would think a season akin to the one we’ve just had is on the cards. A couple of decent signings could of course go some way to changing that but the play offs look rather distant at this stage.

Re: Next season finish
All things considered mid table would be acceptable.
Then it's a very good chance for a clear out in Summer 2021.

That'll be the line parroted around for sure. If we ever go back to NL all the work will have been for nothing.

When other clubs, who are nowhere near as well run as us, inevitably go bust then we won't end up back in the NL

Re: Next season finish
That was just stupid lazy logic tbf. "Tranmere and other teams got promoted straight after coming up so we will too" without evaluating why they went up and how Orient compared to them/what they did.Apple Wumble wrote: ↑Sat Jul 11, 2020 9:17 pmThat’s what the optimists all said last season and they were wrong againWinchesterfan wrote: ↑Sat Jul 11, 2020 8:48 pm Too many doom mongers on this board.

Re: Next season finish
Realistically, with current squad and assuming we haven’t got the budget or squad places to add more than a couple of players, I think top half is about our ceiling. Am I happy with that? Not particularly. If it means it’s another building block, and we can get rid of the dead wood and build for a top 3 push the season after then, fine.
A lot depends on if we start dishing out contract extensions imo. I’m not happy with being a mid league two team for the next 10 years and we need to have a refresh after a lot of the current contracts are up.

Re: Next season finish
I'm not very confident we''re going to get the new players we're after so I think we're going to struggle again next season . For that reason I'd definitely take a mid table finish right now . That would be better than a relegation battle.DuvB wrote: ↑Sat Jul 11, 2020 11:12 am Given the large number of variables, I would be happy with a middle table finish this coming season.
