Villa vs Sheffield United.
Not many games in the premiership where both teams are managed by ex Os players.
Felt for DeanO during the silence to remember those that have lost thier lives during this pandemic he must have been thinking about his dad. also the players and officials taking a knee before kick off was quite powerful.
Watching the game with crowd noise being played in the background tried it without but it's really strange.

Re: Villa vs Sheffield United.
Chris Wilder must have been fuming, why on earth was that goal disallowed, it was about a metre over the line.
Obviously VAR wasn’t working but what was the Linesman watching ??

VAR was working but hawkeye the goal line technology didn't go off until they were having thier half time cuppa. Surely having seen it at the time the VAR officials should have notified the referee on his earpiece and reviewed and then confirmed the goal.
Obvious that it was in.

VAR only gets used if refs watch signals.Cheshunto wrote: ↑Wed Jun 17, 2020 9:49 pmIf Sheffield United miss out on a European place because of that cock upTop of the JES wrote: ↑Wed Jun 17, 2020 9:07 pmVAR was working but hawkeye the goal line technology didn't go off until they were having thier half time cuppa. Goalie was dancing with ball behind the line. Only the blind officials didn’t see it.

Keeper was rubbing the ball against the side netting behind the post.

”The seven cameras located in the stand around the goal area were significantly occluded by the goalkeeper, defender and goalpost. This level of occlusion has never been seen before in over 9,000 matches that Hawk-Eye Goal Line Technology has been in operation.
The system was tested and proved functional prior to the start of the match in accordance with the IFAB Laws of the Game as confirmed as working by the match officials. The system has remained functional throughout.
Hawk-Eye unreservedly apologises to the Premier League, Sheffield United and everyone affected by this incident."
Occluded? What fcuking bullish!t is that? I could see it was over on the TV.

Re: Villa vs Sheffield United.
Maybe just too many players around the ball and the officials don’t have X-ray vision. Maybe the refs should sit in the bar and watch it on TV.
Shocking decision though.

Re: Villa vs Sheffield United.
Felt sorry for the referee who is told to rely on hawkeye triggering his watch only on this occasion it didn't, well at least not until 6 minutes later when the teams were in the dressing rooms. Surely though the asst referee could see the ball was in as he was bang lelel with the post and he should have brought it to the referees attention who could have referred it for a VAR check, just to make sure.
Glad Villa got a point for Dean's sake but Sheffield United were robbed by the technology and lack of common sense from the officials.

Re: Villa vs Sheffield United.
Sitting watching it on TV is exactly what the VAR officials do. I think you are right to an extent that the referee had a lot of players between him and the ball at the time it was over the line, bit the assistant referee was in line and did nothing to help the referee out.

Re: Villa vs Sheffield United.
I also like the way they tried to defend the bloke who's doing the VAR I thought the whole point of it to was stop a clear and obvious error. They have two pieces of technology and they still couldn't get the decision right.

Re: Villa vs Sheffield United.
Just goes to show that you can have all the technology in the world but you are still relying on a human to:-
1. Ensure that it is used correctly
2. Have the balls to make a decision.
Thus it will never be 100%.
