Re: The trans debate

I’d disagree with “good intentions” though; the trans rights movement *needs* “trans children” to exist, to justify the idea that their trans identity is an indisputable fact about them. Middle aged heterosexual male people who call themselves lesbians, advocating for the idea that feminine male ch...

Re: The trans debate

Found this a good read on what went wrong at Tavistock and GIDS. https://www.newstatesman.com/politics/health/2024/03/inside-the-collapse-of-the-tavistock-centre Still feel a lot of sympathy for the non activist trans people who are getting caught up in a very toxic debate, where both sides on the e...

Can't believe we're looking back at 2012 as a golden age of being keeping things in perspective, but I really don't remember being people losing their minds over this effort.

Tories throwing stones in the world's largest glass house on this. Remember that Sunak parachuted Cameron into the Lord's to give him a front bench role whilst Greensill is being investigated by the Serious Fraud Office.

Re: Nike 'update' England flag

It is completely beyond my comprehension that the National Flag of a Country could be bastardised in such a way and for it to be approved and go into production. What woke, hand wringing, brainwashing took place in that presentation and who was suckered into believing it. Can you explain how it is ...

Re: Nike 'update' England flag

National flag has been changed to make a statement of inclusivity when other kits haven’t been altered in the same way. Pretty obvious. Inclusive to who? I am completely baffled by how this is being seen as a political gesture. I suppose Jesse Owens raising a fist isn’t political to you either. Jes...

Re: Nike 'update' England flag

They're also kicking off because their kit is switching from adidas to Nike and the actual vice chancellor is calling it out as unpatriotic. So at least it's not just an English phenomenon. Whining about this sh*t is the real virtue signalling because it's paying lip service to complete fluff issues...

Re: Nike 'update' England flag

Think there's a similar backlash in Germany against their new pink kit, which at least has the advantage of being borderline woke and legitimately winding up whatever the German equivalent to Gammons is (schinken?) Your Lee Anderson's here are now in a place of seeing essentially anything they don't...

'The England 2024 Home kit disrupts history with a modern take on a classic' has to be some of the worst marketing gubbins of all time.

Re: Moving house advice

On surveys; if I was to buy again I’d f*** off surveyors who, in my experience, do the minimum amount of looking and the maximum amount of legal get out clauses, that you learn nothing. Especially if you’re buying an old house like I did. Instead I’d get in (if the seller allows it), experts in thi...

Re: Moving house advice

Id say get the solicitors on board ASAP as they generally takes yonks to do anything and work on a flat fee basis, not by the hour, so you might as well get on the process of identifying potential issues now. Even if they are good, the timeline for sorting stuff like lease issues can be hideous, so ...

Re: Jordan Graham interview

Wellens loves him and we are evidently a worse team at playing it out from back when it's Cooper and Beckles, who've looked pretty shaky as a pair at times. I find it hard to imagine us not keeping him on, especially if it's only for a year. If he's fit, it's one of him and Beckles or Cooper.

Get disliking Evans cause he's been a tit for over two decades and has always seemed to have personal needle against Orient - remember him being a knob towards Ling back when he was in charge of Boston and obviously there's day at Wembley. But don't understand giving a toss about Stevenage. They're ...

Evans: "I have lost my faith in the referees" :o https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JaIAYRaucWc Him being a hypocritical tit capable of creating an amazing siege mentality is why he's been an excellent small club manager throughout his career. It's incredibly annoying to watch and his teams ...

Re: Exiles Thread.

Stolid game but defensively we handled Stevenage brilliantly. Play offs a touch too far given our goal difference but if nothing else, satisfying to beat a team that a lot of people were obsessing over earlier in the season. They looked decent in patches but clearly in a rut form wise. Beckles and C...

The politics there are crackers - their western loved 'reformer' (read economic liberalizing) pm got chased out the country, only to become governor of Odessa under Poroshenko, who he then turned on and resulted in being chased out of Ukraine as well. Fair shout on Georgia but, while Russia has now overhauled its military and transformed to a wartime economy, that would still require diverting forces from Ukraine. A war on two fronts? They have an election this year, the protest last summer in Tibilsi felt very Maidan like from the pro western, ...
