Re: Reinventing domestic football
A little "what if" exercise... imagine the FA Cup replay thing blew up and in the end the Premier League flounced off into a European Super League sunset and the EFL broke away to do their own thing. If you could reinvent the domestic game to get away from the worst of greed and excess at...

Why bother with the initial 90 minutes ? Go straight to penalties and if it’s 5-5 toss a coin to see who goes through!Hoover Attack wrote: ↑Thu Apr 18, 2024 4:17 pm I'd do away with extra time, go straight to pens if it's a draw at the end of full time.

Re: Exiles thread - Exeter (H)
3 tactical subs that early when two players had already come off injured obviously a massive and unnecessary risk. That's not a hindsight thing, thought it was odd at the time. Just about experimenting at this stage in the season Excellent opportunity to experiment against Derby on Saturday with on...

Re: Peter Bennett
I know Bennett was versatile, but what was his best position? Peter Bennett was a midfielder at West Ham but played as a centre back alongside Terry Mancini when he first arrived at the O’s and stayed in that position ( alongside Paul Harris) after Mancini left. After a very serious groin injury su...

An all time favourite of mine. So versatile and as said elsewhere never gave less than 100% anytime he was in an O’s shirt. RIP “Les” Bennett and thanks for the memories.

Re: RW: squad isn’t strong enough
Most of us have known for some time we're too slow in the transfer market and must move more quickly in future . We are too slow because we are not prepared to pay wages that this division demands for good players. We only had a small budget left over in the window that could not attract any good e...

Sad to hear that our former centre forward Steve Watts is currently undergoing treatment for throat cancer. I’m sure we all wish him a speedy recovery at what must be a difficult time for both him and his family. Get well soon Steve!

Re: Dan Agyei
I wonder if Agyei’s twelve week diagnosis was known to the club prior to the transfer window closing? If it was I’m a little disappointed we decided to settle for two teenagers with zero EFL experience as replacements tbh.🫤 We did go for a more experienced striker but we couldn't get him . Aware of...

Re: Troy Deeney - sacked
You can’t throw most of your team under the bus like that and expect to carry on. That's from the John Sitton Book of Football Management.  And is that shorter than Carl Fletcher was with us? But it just goes to show how fickle footy can be. Runaway with a League 2 title, relegated the n...

Re: Fernandes Penalty - Wigan
Surely an equally big issue is the woeful standard of refereeing ? Anthony Taylor has already been “ demoted” from Premier League games once this season after an awful penalty decision given against Wolves. In other walks of life such serial incompetence would have more long lasting consequences.

Re: TRANSFER RUMOURS
Makes me laugh when people say League One standard players, as James Brophy has played three straight seasons starting week in week out at this level, outside the to 8-10 the rest of the league isn't that amazing Based on what I’ve seen I’d restrict that even further and say the outside the top 4 o...
