I know he's a good player but do we need another CB. It's in central midfield we need strengthening .

It doesn’t matter how many CD we have.
How could you not sign him if he was available, he played every game for Derby last season in the Championship and was player of the year for Derby.
If he cannot resign for Derby he only wants to sign for one other club, us!
He knows RW
He would be 1st name on team sheet, Captain and a leader on/off the pitch.
Player/Coach role would be ideal!
Absolute no brainer, and in process get Tom Huddlestone in the building.
We may only get 1 season out of them but we would be in L1 after.

I'd have him in if only for pre-season training. A man of his age and experience might be really good for Shad's education.

RW has advised before that we need a CB and would look at another loan with Alex Mitchell a possibility if Millwall allowed. Curtis Davies seems ideal

Would love this. What a huge boost for the club, not only that it may also attract others that want to learn from a top championship defender. If he was playing every game for Derby last season then he could easily hold his own in this league. To have a player like that in the dressing room would be worth ten fold what ever he took as a wage.

We have four centre backs assuming Happe recovers ok. Maybe Ogie is being pushed to left back and it'll be Davies - Beckles as first choice partnership?

Was Huddlestone really without a club for the whole of last season . If he was he'd be miles off being fit for the start of the season . He'd need to come in now and start working his backside off at the training ground

He was a Man Utd fan. He was a couple of years above me at Rush Croft in Chingford, so he probably wants to move back nearer his family.

Why do we need another CD with Happe Ogie Beccles Thompson and James can be moved into that position. Seems to me that Happe might be on the move . Davies is 37 and possibly got 1more year.

Interesting development.

Not really an Orient fan after all, just pretending to be to avoid the embarrassment of people finding out he supports Man Utd.

Obviously would like Curtis Davis, but with a limited budget, I'm sure there are other priorities. Also worried about Dan Happe. Would like to see him get fit and playing matches. Even if fit, might struggle for a first team place, perhaps a loan elsewhere. Personally I still think there is a good player in there if he can get his fitness and confidence back.

Apart from Kevin Lisbie, I can`t remember any former top player who has done well for us (Channing, Hodge, A. Martin, Shilton, Granville, Scowcroft, Henderson, Dunne, Nolan, etc. ect.)

I like Davies, but I hope we will resist the temptation to sign him.

There's some horror stories on that list. By and large ageing pros don't work out and eat up big chunks of the budget.

Pratley is an ageing pro and doing ok. Kind of. Not convinced his legs will make it through another season. Macanuff was an ageing pro.

Jones, Wilkins, Hodge as well.

Cockerill and Macanuff are the two standout exceptions.
