Of course. The people you're dealing with over there may be armed.

I lived in a hotel in Miami (1981) and the mostly teenaged car park attendants wore guns in hip holsters. I once asked one of them what would need to happen for him to use it, he said "If I can't run away fast enough". Madness

Trump thought it would be a great idea to arm teachers in schools. But this mass-shooter had a bullet-proof vest. Guess Trump would say "Shoot for the head!" Utter madness.

Cannot they reform this outdated (year1788) basis

It amazes me the American Government want to basically control the free world with their interpretation of Democracy and their strategic defence locations to protect and enhance their economic position, but they cannot even run their own country in a modern decent way.
Think the constitution is like believing in God and the scriptures, Scribbled on a bit of paper probably after he had too many fermented potatoes. Somebody could just get a pen and say why don’t we just cross out that bit…

A primary school, absolutely sick!

27th school shooting this year. Imagine sending your kid to school knowing that.

As the Republican geezer was saying on the news this morning, "It is perfectly acceptable for millions of decent, law abiding citizens to have the right to bear arms to protect themselves" He conveniently failed to mention the high number of mentally unstable, including psychopaths, people who also have this right

Gun policy in the US defies all rational logic, but even this is unlikely to change things.

But if all the teachers at the school had guns as well, this wouldn’t keep on happening.

Sky news were interviewing some fairly close eye-witnesses in the town last night. It was a pretty awful interview, with sound problems meaning the first few minutes consisted of "can you hear me?" and "hello" etc. etc.

Towards the end, the (UK) Sky newscaster asked the lady what she thought of gun control - although he said maybe now is not the time to be considering political points but wanted to get her personal feelings (bearing in mind she'd just been going on about how awful the shooting was and that in the small town it would touch just about every family etc etc). Her response was "you have to keep the right to bear arms - if they take all our guns away, how will we protect ourselves from the government" The stupid fanny isn't even scared of robbers or crack heads or Russians invading - she wants everyone to be armed to protect themselves from their own government.

Nothing will change. As someone said above, if they didn't change after Sandy Hook, they won't change now.

Many backward Americans mindsets are still stuck in the settler times of the 17th and 18th centuries, times of armed militias, stockades and having guns to fight off the red Indians, that along with the Salem witch trials !
