Witches Hat Playground Ride
Is making a comeback after being banned 30 years ago under safety issues. A welcome return I say as that was a good ride in the park and we used to go mental on it trying to get each other whilst it was being spun at top speed and you traversed around it.
Great times and the kids today will get the same fun as we had.

Well Jimbo they’re coming back everywhere! The health and safety police has said they are ok! Let kids be kids, let them fall and hurt themselves it’s a part of growing up.

Weird timing...i went for a walk with the missus on sunday and stumbled upon a local playground with no-one in, at 32 years old we obviously went on the swings and the see-saw...Im sure they had one of these and i didn't know what it is. Was i breaking the law when i went on it?

Witches Hats were fun, but these were my favourites. We used to call them swingboats, and you’d be in danger of getting chinned if you timed it wrong doing the pushing and grabbing on the end seat.

There will usually be an age guide somewhere, you'll have to go back and check.Apple Wumble wrote: ↑Fri Jun 28, 2019 10:20 am Weird timing...i went for a walk with the missus on sunday and stumbled upon a local playground with no-one in, at 32 years old we obviously went on the swings and the see-saw...Im sure they had one of these and i didn't know what it is. Do you still get that one with 4 seats around a central ball that you made spin by twisting on the the static hoop in the middle? Guaranteed to have kids holding on and being flung all over the place, so I'm guessing not?

Yes that's still a staple one in parks. I took my son and his friends down the park to play and they want to go on that roundabout thing, so they've all sat down and I launched it at full power, eventually my son flew off it!!CreamofSumYungGai wrote: ↑Fri Jun 28, 2019 10:39 amThere will usually be an age guide somewhere, you'll have to go back and check.Apple Wumble wrote: ↑Fri Jun 28, 2019 10:20 am Weird timing...i went for a walk with the missus on sunday and stumbled upon a local playground with no-one in, at 32 years old we obviously went on the swings and the see-saw...Im sure they had one of these and i didn't know what it is. Re: Witches Hat Playground Ride
Just a sheer guess that this was a daily mail story? I'm assuming an individual playground may have removed one years ago and is now bringing it back, bit its just bloody obvious they were never banned. They're in pretty much every playground.
The soft landing stuff they have these days is proper cheating though innit? Glass strewn concrete never did us any harm. Well, apart from the kid left with permenant brain damage after slipping while swinging upside down on the climbing frame and falling straight on his head.

That's what was happening when the reason the original ones got banned occured. Kid playing in the sand pit & a bunch of kids & teenagers f*cking about on one & the hefty metal dome at the top snapped off & flew about 20 yards & smashed an 8 year olds head into oblivion . Her old man was watching her play in the sand, Imagine taking your kid to the park for some fun & then having to watch her die.Thor wrote: ↑Fri Jun 28, 2019 8:17 am Is making a comeback after being banned 30 years ago under safety issues. Its been modified so its not possible to do what the little f*ckers who abused them did back then.
Remember the Rocking Horse got banned a few months later for some kid being held underneath or behind it by older kids & it smashed both of his legs to pieces.

Following on tuffers, a friend of my mother's saw a child flung off, hit head and died.tuffers#1 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 29, 2019 12:00 amThat's what was happening when the reason the original ones got banned occured. Who remembers the old metal slides and polishing them to speed them up. Marvellous.

Re: Witches Hat Playground Ride
Maybe so. It was especially pleasing to be rewarded for polishing when an unsuspecting person came along and shot down the slide at the speed of sound and shot off the end landing on their arse.
