Vigouroux. 6. Couple of good stops. No chance with the goals especially with the second as he was doing a Jimmy Glass. He may as well have been doing a Jimmy Riddle.
Wood. 4.5. Rubbish. Checks inside over and over which means the defence can reset and everything comes to a grinding halt.
Beccles. 6. MOM. Best of a sorry bunch.
Ray. 5. Own goal.
Khan. 4.5. Torn a new one in the first half. Marginally better in the second when Adams ran out of oxygen.
Coleman. 3 for the comedy value.
Hector. 4. Off to non league if he plays like that. Literally could not pass it 10 feet without giving it away in the second half.
Smyth. 5. Forgot he was playing.
Nouble. 2 for the comedy value and 1 because he might hit me.
Smith. 3. Disgusting performance. Waved his arms about. Shouted at everyone. Needs to find a new club.
Ruel. 5. Ran into a few blind alleys as per usual. His one chance he missed.
Subs. 6 for Pratley who at least made an effort. Drinnan no impact.
Wellens. 5. Sometimes you lose and play well. This wasn’t one of those. We were atrocious from start to finish. Lots of work to do in the summer. Like a broken record but our midfield is desperate.
Oldham. 6. Up for it. Should beat Stevenage Saturday and stay up.

How did Nouble become a professional footballer? There have been so many better players that never made it pro status.
He is a wage thief at best.

Tough on Woods, he had a solid game but little support around him. 6 from me.
Nouble a 2. I guess he got that for putting his boots on the right feet.
I didn’t see too much to laugh about with Coleman, he’s with us for the next 2 years. Hope Wellens and Terry can teach him to be a midfielder.
Beckles did OK, MOTM about right.

Less concerned about how he made it as a pro and more intrigued to know who at Leyton Orient football club decided that he should play for us.

That was dog sh#t and Oldham were not that good.
I remember as a keen young Orient fan expressing my admiration for the more skillful players in an O's shirt and the more wily old Orient fan's saying "Yes, but is he a luxury we can't afford?"
Unfortunately I think this will always be a thing at this level.
And as bad as I feel Wellens' selections were tonight he sort of redeemed himself with his take no sh#t post match interview. Still think if we're serious about challenging next year it requires a clear out.

The only good thing about tonight is it should give Richie a good idea on who to bin off during the Summer

Nouble is just one of the many sh*t footballers, that have managed to con their way into this club. It’s an Orient thing, the club has always had a great talent of spotting absolute turds and giving them a wage. However recently ML has out done himself the last few years and brought in some quality turd players, not just from league 2 but from higher up the leagues as well as conference. Hats off to Ling and the transfer committee

On rating the players you have a point. But you didn't have to be in Oldham tonight to see we stunk the place out.
Saw Wellens post match comments and rightly so he was not happy with any of that performance..
Hopefully a blip and we get back to how we've been playing recently.

Richie said in his early interviews you need good players, Khan aside I think he's demonstrated tonight the January signings don't fit that description.
We know the club read this board so let's keep it simple - give Richie Wellens and Paul Terry full control of the transfers this summer. Don't make the same mistake twice like when Fletcher wanted to have a clear out and he was denied.
Vigoroux - 5 - can't save the OG, worth a gamble at the end
Khan - 3 - never a RB, decent option in midfield though
Wood - 5 - often outnumbered, put in a shift
Beckles - 4 - tried to run out with the ball but nowhere to go
Ray - 3 - looked uncomfortable with the ball, great header but wrong end
Hector - 4 - out in CM on his own, kept trying but the more he tried the worse it got
Coleman - 2 - one point for turning up each half, the fact Ling paid £80k for him is reason enough to disband the transfer committee
Smyth - 4 - nothing came off for him tonight but made it through the game unscathed so that's a positive
Smith - 3 - looked disinterested
Nouble - 1 - never seen a lazier performance, ta ta
Sotoriou - 4 - bustled but to no effect
Brown - 4 - about as many touches as he had
Pratley - 4 - point docked for needless (though a tad harsh?) booking
Drinan - 6 - livened things up a bit at least

So Coleman was Ling’s signing , not KJ. I sincerely hope Martin keeps his mouth firmly shut on transfer targets during the Summer . All signings should be Wellens choices with no input from our useless transfer committee

Totally agreed. That was no better than the last few months under Jackett.
But I blame Wellens for that entirely. He changed the wrong players and set us up all wrong.
You cannot play Ray if you want to get the ball down and play out from the back. He’s just not comfortable enough on the ball. He plays too deep to make sure he doesn’t have an opponent near him when we need to be closer to our midfield. He never draws an opponent in before releasing the ball. We’re effectively attacking with 9 v 10 outfield players.
You cannot play Smith up top on his own. When we have the ball, he’s too static. Every pass has to be played to his feet, he never looks behind, which is so easy to defend against. And if you are playing him on his own, don’t go with 2 holding CMs and just the 1 CAM anywhere near him, he needs more support. When we don’t have the ball, he’s not mobile enough to play the high press properly. We don’t defend from the front with him playing.
You cannot play Nouble. No further expansion on that point is required.
You cannot play Hector and Coleman together. They need some experience in there alongside them, they’re two kids still finding their feet.
You cannot play Ruel on the right wing. He has to play centrally or on the left cutting in.
I hope Wellens learnt from that tonight but be honest, if he’d seen any of our recent games he should know all of that already.

folks
wellens will have learned a lot tonight about his squad and i expect a number of them to go at end of season. midfield needs to be sorted and i think harry smith will go too. we are safe now so let him look at all and go again next season. i think he has a plan!!

That’s the only good thing about tonight . Richie will now know who to bin and forget. Nouble has just played himself out of the rest of the season. Now send him back to Colchester. What a complete waste of money

He was a panic signing because of the injury to Smyth . That’s the worst type of management you can get . If we can’t sign the right players then don’t sign just any old body. Try our youngsters because at least they’ll try . What a waste of money that last transfer window was. Only one decent player out of six. Please, no more transfer committee nonsense.

Ref 1. When will they apply the law that substituted players leave by the shortest route not hobbling across the majority of the park.
Still, I was Huddersfield last night so was ‘home’ by 10:15.

Seems tonight was very much about Wellens having a look at the players who haven't figured much. This will have given him food for thought for sure.
I thought Wood did okay; he at least tried and Drinan livened things up, ditto Pratley. Beckles was steady-ish as ever.
Khan is not a right back. We knew that anyway.
No doubt Ray and Nouble will be gone at the end of the season and replaced.
Hector and Coleman are still young but are not currently at L2 standard on that showing.
I would also look to offload Smith. That was a terrible half-arsed performance tonight, and he lacks the mobility to play in a system like that. I've seen enough. Bin him off assuming we can find anyone to take him, which seems doubtful.
