Usual posh students and nutters I suppose. Anyone caught up in it?

Fair enough that they care but doubt this is going to solve anything.

I have a lot of sympathy until I realise it’s the same people who will vote labour and remain. The former want to build millions of houses everywhere and the later may as well have GDP stamped on the EU flag. They are therefore a confused bunch.

everybody has the right to protest if they think its justified.

Quite right for the first part but Brexit is almost insignificant when compared to how quickly we're screwing over the planet.

So you are against protesting?

So by your reckoning, people who want to draw attention to the fact the planet is on its last legs, and that we're all doomed are nutters?
By my reckoning, youre the nutter, in this argument

If we're doomed then what's the point in protesting? Bring traffic to a halt, that'll help! If they really cared about the environment then surely a mass suicide would be the single greatest thing they could do to reduce their impact?

Jeeez.... Mass suicide eh?
I find it hard to believe that there are people walking about with views like yours.
Don't you care about your children and grand children's lives.
Actually don't even answer. ...I can't be bothered arguing a point with someone with such moronic views.

If I drove a Ford with an eco-tech engine I’d protest as they are woefully under powered.

So what is the answer and how will this protest achieve it? And don't say socialism.

What good is it going to do, if the Chinese and Indians are still belching out smoke from their industrial complexes.

President Donald Duck must be laughing up his jaxy after re-opening up all the old coal mines.

American jobs for American people and fcuk the rest of the world.

He's also f*cking the American people in the process.

So it's not all bad, I guess.

Most people admit its an issue, the problem is theres a whole load of apathy because its not affecting peoples cosy lives right now. People just aren't that bothered to change their lifestyles, because thats the only thing that will bring any change.

We are on the brink of the point of no return.

Climate change deniers are a funny lot...the evidence is there in abundance, but still they refuse to acknowledge it.

This has been repeated for the last decade or so, but are we really?

Technology is the only way out of it and when 'it' comes along and is better than the alternatives people will use it and we'll all be saved, for a little while. The ever growing world population will be what really does it though.

Its not really about apathetic individuals making the effort to change their lifestyles.

Its about abolishing an economic system that demands constant expansion and in the process depletes the resources and systems of the planet to exhaustion. Of course that will involve changes in lifestyle but to view that as being the prime mover is just another individualistic consumerist solution that is doomed to fail from the start.

Well yeah, i agree. As long as big business are making money out of natural resources then it will go on. I guess its chicken and egg. If people stop consuming then the economic system driving that fails.

Let's keep on doing what we're doing and find out.

What does saying technology is the only way out actually mean? As far as I can see technological advances are every bit as harmful to the planet as any that have gone before.

If population growth is the problem then surely education, womens emancipation wordlwide, birth control and the alleviation of poverty are all far more important than crossing our fingers and hoping technology will magically solve the problem.
